Vehicle Detail

This is an exotic automobile with a remarkable combination or rare features and low milage. This model was offered for sale only in Europe to provide a nimble, sporty, lightweight alternative to the V-12 versions typically available in the US. This particular car was manufactured by Jaguar in late 1985, and was imported (with all of the requisite conversions) in 1986 by the original owner. The car is one of just 782 of its type manufactured during 1985. In addition to being 200 pounds lighter than the V-12 versions, it features a Getrag 5-speed manual transmission, sportier suspension and unique pepper pot alloy wheels, as well as the usual XJS features: rack & pinion steering, four wheel independent suspension and four wheel disk brakes. Options and features of interest include: 3.6 litre, overhead cam engine with Bosch fuel injection; A/C, updated to R-134a; all leather interior; wood interior trim; Michelin MXV4 tires rated to 160 mph; power windows; power door locks; remote entry system; rear defroster; rear fog lamps; Cibie halogen headlamps; Blaupunkt sound system; and, trip computer. As shown on the manufacture plate of the vehicle, the date of manufacture was November 1985.. This is consistent with the VIN number of the car, which if interpreted by UK standards indicates a 1986 vintage. However, US VIN methodology misinterprets this vehicle's model year as 1984. Further information about the interpretation of VIN numbers is available in the publication "Expierence in a Book: Help for the Jaguar XJ-S Owner" (http://www.jag-lovers.org/xj-s/book/Jaguar.html). I bought this car in May 2007 from the second owner. He drove the car daily and keep it well maintained. I included the car in my collection of Jaguars and drove it sparingly. It has it's original paint. As one would expect, the exterior finish has imperfections, including some supermarket dings and paint chips. The body, however, is absolutely rust free. The interior, including the leather and wood trim, is in beautiful condition. The car has always been smoke free. The last owner and I kept the car garaged. With one exception, I am unaware of any mechanical problems with the car. The A/C compressor needs replacement. The remainder of the A/C system is in working order. The car is being sold "AS IS", with no warranties, expressed or implied. The buyer is responsible for all costs relating to pick-up or shipment. A $1,000.00 deposit must be paid via PayPal within 48 hours of auction close. The balance of the purchase price must be received within 5 days of the close of the auction, paid in cash, by cashier's check or PayPal. Proper ownership documents will be sent via FedEx to the buyer immediately upon receipt of the purchase price balance. I can store the car indoors for as long as necessary at no cost to accomodate vehicle pick-up.
