1964 Mercury Marauder - Carnival Red Two Door Hardtop For your consideration is this beautiful 1964 Mercury Marauder. I am the second owner of this Marauder, having purchased it eighteen years ago from the original owner. This Marauder comes equipped with Ford's famous FE big block 390 cubic inch engine. Except for timely and complete maintenance, the car has never required any repairs. Factory options included factory deluxe air conditioning, multi drive Merc-O-Matic automatic transmission, two speed windshield wipers, fender top turn signal indicators, full size deluxe spinner wheel covers, safety seat belts, power steering, power brakes and AM radio. A remote control CD player with AM/FM radio has been inconspicuously installed under the front driver's seat. Speakers are professionally installed in the kick panels and rear deck. The sound quality is excellent. The car was repainted last year in the original Carnival Red (also called Rangoon Red). No body work was required. Earlier this year the entire interior was professionally upholstered in an elegant red and grey material. In addition to the entire interior, the dash pad and all interior overhead lights (bezels and lenses) were replaced. The trunk compartment and spare tire cover was also upholstered in the same fabric as the interior carpet. All interior stainless trim was buffed. In the engine compartment I have added cast aluminum finned valve covers and air cleaner. I have retained the original parts so it can be put back in original condition if so desired. The glass is all original and in very good condition. There are no chips or cracks. All exterior and interior lights work as do the windshield wipers, radio, turn signals, heater and defroster. In the last two years I have replaced the master cylinder, power brake booster, shocks on all four corners, two front tires and new tail light lenses. A complete tune up including new Accel spark plug wires was performed in the last 500 miles. The car runs and drives extremely well and is an incredible highway car. *Please note that the car is not a S55 model as shown on the console, that badge is for appearance only. In the eighteen years that I have owned this car, I have never seen another one anywhere. That includes car shows, cruises and on the streets and highways. I have only seen photographs in publications and on the internet. The next owner will certainly be getting a unique and rare car.
