Did you know nearly EVERY movie has a Volvo in it?? Never noticed? You will now! Looking for a "beater"? A car for your teen or second car? Need reliability and safety but don't want to clean out your mattress stash?? Here you go!! Exterior is a bit "worn" to say the least. Definitely a 10 footer...looks good from 10 feet away! But mechanically....it's in excellent condition! Below you can see the many many rock chips and the perfectly centered hood dent....must be a custom dent. Typcial chips and dings on the entire car with only on noticable rust spot (see pic below of hatch). It actually looks to be the original paint. I just had it professionally detailed so its clean, waxed and ready to endure another winter! The rest of the body looks pretty nice. It helps that its the electric blue color. Honestly, if it were me, I'd just have the hood resprayed and the car will look night and day better!! Below you can see the excellent nearly new tire. There are 3 matching this way with one GoodYear oddball. The 2 better up front, 2 rears are easily 75% tread life left. Car drives straight with no excessive pulling or wandering. Noise free suspension feels justlikenew2u! Unseen are the new front and rear rotors and brakes! Suspension is tight with no slop or worn movements. Truly mechanically safe and worry free! Front and rear bumper covers have seen better days. But no holes cuts or major damages. Only cosmetic chips and scrapes. The usual for it's 16+ year lifespan. Here you can see the rust spot above the license plate area. It looks as if it were "bonked" here as it's a little pushed-in. Must be what triggered the bare metal to rust over time. Otherwise, Volvo's don't usually rust. Below is a little scrape that looks worse than it is. The stick on plastic trim here can be re-glued and easily hide the dings. Notice the nice tread on the rear tires and the slotted rear rotors!. Above you can see an odd set of dents only about the size of a baseball ding. Below you can see the ugliness of the hood...basically the clearcoat has worn off, yet the roof is perfect. I don't know why...I'd just leave it and drive it! Onto the super clean interior! Here's where the car shines for it's age...not to mention where you'll be spending your time. Leather seats look great! Heated driver's seat works. Only things to mention are: the power sunroof pops up/open but doesn't slide back/open, the driver's seat tilt is stuck where you see it yet the other positions works properly as if the tilt gears are stuck/dirty (a little time and cleaning effort can possibly fix it as you can feel the motor working), passenger power mirror doesn't work but stays put (driver's works as it should), dome lights work but the overhead switch needs to be replaced (easy junkyard find if needed), finally....the center armrest is mushed down/cup holder is missing. ALL OTHER POWER ITEMS FUNCTION AS THEY SHOULD....like windows, cruise, heated seats, climate control, trans switch, radio, etc. Driver's seat bolster is barely worn! As you can see below....ALL of the dummy lights illuminate as they should upon startup with NONE on during run (above). Notice another typical issue?? The odometer...or more importantly the TRIPometer....it's all ZEROs. Nearly all of the elder 850 series cars used a crappy plastic gear to rotate the odometer portion of the cluster. The gear dryrots and breaks leaving you with the stuck mileage. The MPH guage still works telling you your speed properly, just no miles. The fix can be bought on Ebay here for about $11 shipped with instructions: item # 120828934637. I could care less on a car of this age. Sorry I DO NOT have the records/history on this car...but keep reading and I can assure you of it's reliability!! Don't forget the integrated child safety seat!! I've personally driven this car for what should have been a couple hundred miles to ensure it's reliability. Spare tire setup is intact but the tire needs to be replaced (again, junkyard find is easy). Above you can see the car comes with THREE (3) keys and one(1) working keyless fob! Main factory books also. Sorry no factory floormats. Again....easily found in the junkyard as the S70s, V70s, and all the 850s were the same! Below you can see the well maintained engine and transmission! Engine fires right up and runs perfectly. Turbo is strong and powerful. Transmission shifts perfectly as it should. Fresh oil change. Recent timing belt (my estimations are 30k miles ago) and water pump replacement. Also has the updated timing belt tensioner for worry-free reliability! I removed a Volvo oil filter during my oil change and the Spark plugs are recently replaced Volvo platinum plugs. Air filter is clean and if I remember correctly, also a Volvo piece. DEFINITELY Volvo maintained! Air conditioning pump has been replaced and is holding freon, but will need a recharge come Springtime. Battery is VERY recent if not new. Transmission fluid is clean as well....looks to be recently changed. There is a SMALL oil leak coming from the oil cooler lines right at the motor....should be an easy fix, if desired, with a couple O-rings replacement. If my schedule wasn't so ridiculous right now, I'd tackle it. But it barely left a quarter-sized spot on my shop floor. No signs of any other oil or coolant leaks. Car doesn't overheat.
