ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPORTUNITY NO RESERVE! DOCUMENTED LAST SQUAREBIRD MADE UNRESTORED FACTORY ORIGINAL That’s right. this is the last squarebird off the assembly line. It is absolutely unrestored (except for the paint, please read about it below to fully understand). Just how good is this thunderbird? PLEASE SEE SECOND TO LAST PHOTO OF CAR WINNING COUNCOURSE BEST ORGINAL FOR SHOW STORY BEHIND THE LAST SQUAREBIRD The car was found on the Hemmings website. We bought it from the second owner. The car had the rarest exterior color, special order Lincoln grey metallic and the rarest interior (trim code 76 black and grey nylon cord) and had a 13W date code which translates into Sept. 13 1960, the last day of production. Vin number is:OY71Y192744. The car was an untouched original. The original paint could not be saved. I decided to have it repainted when I found a gallon of actual factory paint in the correct color. The paint was still good enough to uset. The interior was stripped out to ensure no smell or damage would occur. In doing so, the back of the passengers side door panel was discovered to have inscribed in black grease pen “9/13 LAST DAY LAST CAR”. An article was generated in the “Oakland Press Newspaper” which covers the Wixom assembly plant area in Michigan. The thought was that if anyone who worked in the plant at that time would remember the car, they could contact me and verify the car. The article was left vague to ensure authenticity. In a few days, a Mr. Bob Oeschger called and stated he was the quality assurance person at the plant that day and remembered the car. He stated that there was only one special order Lincoln metallic grey car on the line that last day and it was the very last car. He told me there were assembly line worker’s signatures hidden on the car and that they also put a sign on the roof stating that it was the last car (of that body style) starting a Wixom tradition. Bob sent me documentation on the car being the last one and have a transcript of a taped interview stating it is the last one. CAR ACHIEVMENTS - The car has been signed by assembly line workers, a tradition at the Wixom plant that was started by this car. Two signatures have been reviled: one in the trunk behind a side liner panel and the other behind the passengers side door panel. The one in the trunk is a signature that is hard to make out the exact name and the one behind the door panel states “9/13 last day, last car”. A green paper shamrock was found under the carpeting that states “ This is your lucky day”. I have not torn things out looking for more signatures, deciding to let everything be as it always has been. The one in the trunk is left exposed to prevent any more wear on it from the cardboard panel. - - 2010 Oregon Forest Grove Concourse d’Elagance: “BEST ORIGINAL” FOR THE ENTIRE SHOW.
