I recently purchased this van from the original owner this summer. It was obviously well cared for and some recent restoration has been done on this van by the former owner. I needed a van for summer trips and some light hauling and now I am ready to drive my 1977 VW Convertible, so I must say goodbye to this raving beauty. RUST: There is virtually no rust anywhere on this van. It was likely garage kept and never driven in snow. There are some very minor areas of surface rust. The frame is solid. PAINT: The paint is original, except for the front of the van where it has been repainted. The repainted portion looks brand new. I have re-striped all of the red pin striping. The original paint is very presentable, but dull in some spots. A professional paint shop could probable do wonders to restore the original paint to some high degree of finish. BODY: The body has no obvious dings, dents, or scratches. What is there is very minor. The front bumper looks brand new. The chrome on the bumper is unbelievable. An updated grill and head lights have been installed. ENGINE: This is a 305 V8.I have installed a re-built Rochester carb. The engine runs very strong.No obvious leaks. It drives straight down the road with no shakes or shimmies and will cruise at 85mph if you dare. TRANSMISSION: The transmission is strong. It has some hesitation on the shift. I think it could use a vacuum adjustment. No obvious leaks. A/C-HEAT: Heater works fine. A/C does not work. I do not know what it would take to fix it. TIRES: Tires have plenty of tread left. I just blew the right rear and had it replaced with a non-matching tire. I lost the chrome trim ring when the tire blew. The spare looks brand new and still has whiskers. The rear mounted spare tire has a very nice chrome and fiberglass cover. EXHAUST: The exhaust looks like it has been recently replaced and it has not noises and no obvious leaks, rust, or problems. OIL/FILTER: Has been routinely changed and I just changed oil/filter and rotated tires. BRAKES: Rear brakes are good. Front brakes will need to be replaced within the next 5000 miles. INTERIOR: This interior looks almost brand new. The previous owner must have put in all new seat coverings and top and sides of interior. The sears are velour and look brand new. The carpet is very nice, but has a few minor imperfections here and there. ODORS/SMOKING/PETS: I have never smoked in it or had pets in the van. There are no foul odors and no signs of prior smoker use or pet use. ELECTRICAL: All of the lights and electrical items function, except some times the rear seat has difficulty going up/down. WIPERS: I replaced the wipers recently and the fluid washer pumps fine. This van could easily pass for having half the mileage. I drive it every day at least 100 miles and it has never failed me. This is a very reliable means of transportation and is great for family trips or hauling stuff to and fro. MPG: I have gotten between 16-19mpg with this van.Your Mileage May Vary.
