Vehicle Detail
My friend has asked me to list this car. He bought it in 1998 when he was a Mercedes-Benz dealership employee. It was traded in at that time by the original owners. They kept all their service receipts and my friend kept all his, so now there is complete service records from new 'til now. All servicing was done at the dealership. Parts that were replaced along the way have always been original new Mercedes OEM and installed by Master Certified Mercedes-Benz technicians. When the original clearcoat started to delaminate, the paint job (Anniversary Silver Clearcoat, about 6 years ago and sanded to the metal) was also done at the Mercedes dealership. It was his daily driver until about two years ago when he got a company car. He kept it registered and insured and still drove it occasionally, but mostly it has sat for the last two years. Now, the registration and insurance is due again, so he decided to "throw it in the 'bay". The car runs great and goes down the road straight with no squeaks, rattles or wind noise. This is the last series of the hand-built over-engineered Benz convertibles and you can really feel the quality when you drive it. The engine and transmission operate smoothly and properly, the air conditioner is ice cold, and the original radio still works. It also has good brakes and tires, and no rusted spots - even underneath. All of the original books are present; all of the windows work as does the central locking. I drove this car about 50 miles today, and all I could think was, "What a cruiser!". The vehicle does need some TLC. There are a few very light scratches in the paint. As you can see in the pics, there is a portion of the front valance that has been broken off. The interior is all original and the seats are still pretty good under the sheepskins: the passenger side has a split seam. The roof has a couple of wear spots from lowering, but no leaks. My friend said that the roof went down the last time he tried it, but when I was taking the pictures, I could not get it to lower. The "Check Engine" light goes on and off (mostly on) and the oil gauge seems a bit erratic. Oh, and the wood veneer inside has a couple of surface cracks. TLC notwithstanding, here's a real classic Mercedes-Benz (not many were imported) that has never been abused. About an eighty thousand dollar car back in '93, it has been loved and cared for all its life. It is very presentable and very driveable; a super-comfortable and super-safe vehicle that's still tight and solid. In this car you can go anywhere without doing a thing to it; it goes and stops the way it is supposed to and in a very quiet and elegant manner. Located not too far from Palm Beach International; you can fly in and drive home ! Thanks for looking and good luck bidding! **** NO RESERVE ! ******* ANY QUESTIONS ? ******* CALL MIKE @ 561-319-0704 ******* THANK YOU ! ****On Nov-24-11 at 08:52:46 PST, seller added the following information: I have received a few questions about the 2003 accident that shows up on the Vehicle History Report, so I asked about it. Stopped at a red light, light turned green, the car in front went, then suddenly stopped and my friend didn't notice in time. Only having moved a few feet, he bumped into the back of the other car at a very low rate of speed. No sheet metal was damaged, but the right-side headlamp assembly and the grille was replaced (with new parts, not used).
