Vehicle Detail

1970 DATSUN 240Z Where it all began! First year "limited production" specifically built, to be imported to the US, by Nissan, to compete with the European sports car market! It succeeded! This is the " Early" and desirable version ,with the venting in the rear hatch, later moved to the quarter, and the the higher 9.1 compression inline six cylinder HLS30- L24- 2.4 Liter(Thus the Name 240Z) -Dual( HJG) Carbs Motor -it's (2393 cc's actual) 151 HP @ 6000RRPM It has the desirable 5-speed overdrive manual transmission This limited production vehicle began the Nissan sports car American Market! It is missing it's front bumper, but it's original grille is hidden under the front mesh grille added by the second owner. This car began it's life as the limited edition "SunburstYellow", was then painted blue, and then painted the present maroon color. It was at some point hit by a mild hail storm, but certainly not destroyed and it's certainly not major body panel repair. *See photos. It has the 160 MPH speedometer,& Factory 8000 RPM tachometer The car runs and drives extremely well. It has a recent new clutch installed The original point style distributor has some play and could use a new bushing(compensated for when setting the dwell) It has front disc brakes and the rear "aluminum" drum brakes It has had some small floor patches installed in spots, but is very restorable and mostly solid. The rockers are solid as are the bottoms of the doors. It has the"Rare" four lug "limited production" Ansen Style Aluminum Wheels , fitted with recent 185/70R 14 Cooper tires The driver seat bottom cushion needs to be replaced The car certainly needs some TLC but it certainly is very restorable, and has it's place in Nissan's Performance Sports Car History. Paul Newman set many records driving these cars. This car is complete enough, to take to the next level, or drive as is. Best Regards, Ray and The Gang @ Ray's Hot Rod Garage
