Vehicle Detail
I am selling this bike for my brother, who has owned it for over 10 years. He moved out of state to start a new job a few years ago and I was storing it for him. He flies in every summer to visit family and ride it. Unfortunately I lost my storage last summer and cannot store it indoors anymore. Winter is coming so he has regretfully decided to sell it. 1970 Trident with matching numbers motor and frame. Motor and carbs were completely professionally rebuilt by John and Bob Goodpaster of Expert Motor Cycle in Hobart Indiana. They have a great reputation and have been building Triumph and Norton motors for decades. The odometer isn't working right now but we estimate that the motor has about 3000 miles since rebuild. While the motor was out we took the bike apart and repainted, rebuilt/replaced everything everything as necessary. Boyer electronic ignition, new coils, solid state regulator old replace diode and rectifier. New cables and seat, new Dunlop K59 tires and Hagon rear shocks. It originally had a 19 inch rear wheel which we replaced with a 18. The bike was/is fast and handled great and was rock steady on the highway. It was always our intention to make a great rider and not a show bike. Paint color is incorrect and there is no front fender. Maybe other things that are not correct for a stock bike, so please look at pics carefully if you are looking to build a 1000 pt show bike. Currently it is in pretty good shape. It has a small dent on the gas tank (see pic) from something falling on it in storage. The paint has many scratches and scrapes. The chrome is decent; the worse being the headlight shell. The last time the bike was ridden was last August when I brought from my old building to where it is now. It ran great but had some problems idling; probably needs the carbs to be cleaned. It doesn't have a battery (the old one was shot). I wish I could keep it but I am getting rid of a lot of my stuff for lack of room. Reserve is less than what he put into the motor alone. Thanks for looking! Sold as-is, no returns or warranties whatsoever. Please ask any questions BEFORE bidding. Should you need more pics just ask, I'd be happy to email them. I will accept a $500.00 deposit via Paypal, the balance must be either cash or certified funds before bike and title leaves my hands. Buyer is responsible to arrange and pay for all shipping. I will assist as much as I can, but I cannot deliver or crate this bike, you have to arrange that. Shipping is from 60712. On Nov-23-11 at 07:13:06 PST, seller added the following information: ** I was contacted by a very knowledgeable ebayer regarding this bike. He confirmed that this bike is number 137 of only 285 Tridents built in 1970. The 1970 Trident is one of the rarest Meridan Triumphs! There are lots of 69 bikes that were sold and titled in 1970, and later advertised as 1970 models. He said that in 10 years he has only seen two other actual 1970 Tridents on eBay.
