Vehicle Detail
1957 Cadillac Series 62. This car is worth saving! Very long story short I saved it from the crusher. I want to keep this car but can’t store it inside. After hurricane Irene passed by and I had to leave it in a parking lot at work to get it away from the trees I decided it needs to go to a home were it will be inside and cared for. The car is complete and has very little rust. See the photos. The hood is not worth salvaging, I was going to use it as a plug for a fiberglass mold. These are the problem areas, if there are any other areas you would like photos of let me know. I started the rescue by rebuilding the Rochester 4GC carburetor and doing a full tune-up. The engine ran, but not well and had no power under load. I pulled the engine down to the short block and found bad head gaskets. I rebuild the heads, now the engine runs well and zings to read line effortlessly! The engine is a 1962 Cadillac 390 which the prior owner replaced after spinning a bearing in the original; the engine does not leak any fluids or smoke. While I have no documentation of the mileage on the engine its internal condition supports fewer miles than more. The generator was replaced with a 140 Alternator. The brakes were a mess. Long story short it now has all new metal lines, rubber hoses, a scarebird.com front disc brake conversion and new rear wheel cylinders. The rear drums and shoes were serviced, cleaned and work fine. I converted it to a firewall mounted master cylinder from a late 70’s Chevy truck with a proportioning valve. The car has 4 early 90s caprice rims with new firestone tires. I was working on reupholstering the seats when I had to stop due to the hurricane. This is why the front seat is bare structure wiring. All the interior parts come with the car; some have just been removed to work with the door locks and window parts. The taillights were red outside (Run/stop/turn) and white inside (reverse). I converted it to Run/Stop/Turn outside and Stop/turn inside using 1956 chevy beehive lenses. I have the origninal lenses if you want them. The fuel tank was removed due to all the varnish in it. The floor well for the spare tire was rotted out and the carpet helped the floor above the tank go too; the fuel tank pictured was the cheapest and easiest solution to get the car going again. I have not had time to finish the floor. I have alot of the oringinal paperwork on this car, its included in the auction. Any questions please ask. The car is currently titled, tagged, and insured. Arraignments can be made to see the car in person. I can deliver within 250 miles at 1 dollar per mile. I will work with you on any shipping arraignments you make. Thanks for looking.
