I removed the dead battery as well. Plus my children are getting bigger and my wife needs more backseat room for the kids and all their soccer stuff. We have used this as a third (Weekend Cruiser) car and put an "classic car tags" on it. When you take the hardtop off there is a soft top that you can close in case it rains or you want to keep things more secure. This Convertible top 1983 Mercedes Benz 380sl is a white and it was originally bought in North Florida by the original owner. It has been serviced meticulously it's whole life. If you have owned a Mercedes and/or know about them you know how well they are built. This car was over $42,000 back in 1983. I do not have the original wheels. I bought a new set of chrome wheels back in 2006 for it for about $1,500. The timing chain was replaced at 105,549 miles. I have just replaced the 2 window switches with OEM switches from MB. Two of the three dashboard lights are working. The original radio was replaced for aftermarket. The A/C will need some servicing but it did blow strong, the fans do work. The car appears perfect from 10 feet but as you get closer to the car you will notice some nicks in the paint, especially on the edge of the passenger rear qauter panel. The hardtop has NO cracks and very soild. There is small pin holes of surface rust starting. I was in the process of changing out the Burguny Carpet to black, I did pull out th old carpet but never finish, currently no carpet in car. just being honest The downside of the southern Florida weather has led to some sun damage to some interior components. The original black dashboard top has lite crackes. The other sun damage is some cracking of the wooden material on the center console and arm rest. Body is in good shape including the paint for its year, yes some scratches. The body has very little rusting on the bottom of quarter panels. You can see that the exterior is in fair condition. The rims are in OK condition and they have Michelins that have plenty of tread remaining. The convertible top black and is in OK shape. It does come with both Top Soft and Hard Tops. The Chrome wheels / rims alone are worth over $1,500.00, this classic must be tow away.
