This Panel Van has been stored since the beginning of this year awaiting restoration. It was purchased from another individual that never got around to restoring it. He purchased it from an individual that lived in Clarksdale, MS. As the story goes, I am selling this due to the fact that I have too many irons in the fire. The van is very restorable. The body is in good condition except for a few minor issues with rust in the usual places. These should be an easy fix. Someone in the past removed the original tailights and installed some cheap aftermarkets. I am including a new set of original NOS tail lights. See photos. The interior and the wood bed are also in good condition. There does not appear to be in rot in the wood from visual inspection above and underneath. The seats were in it when I bought it and I do NOT have the originals. The footwells do have rust. The engine in the truck is a later model v-8. I suspect an early 283, but I am NOT certain. The engine ran when parked by the man I got the truck from, but he said it smoked. The oil on the dipstick looks good, but I am not able to get it running because of the wiring. The wiring will have to be replaced to the engine. I have had the head and tailights working on the truck. This should also be a simple fix. There is an automatic transmission with a shifter located on the floor between the seats. I believe this was originally a 3 speed column truck. The clutch pedal is still in the truck. The chassis has the usual rust and scaling. Please take a look at the photos for more detail on that. No doubt it can be blasted and painted or powder coated. The wheels do roll but the brakes are frozen and will need totally rebuilt. The tires will hold air and are ONLY useful in loading and unloading it. The wheels are obviously aftermarket, but I have the original 6 lug wheels with the tabs, for the original dog dish hubcaps. Four have been blasted and painted black while the 5th one came with the truck as the spare tire in the back. The back door latch is off the right door but is included. This vehicle does not run and needs full restoration. There is NO warranty expressed or implied. The vehicle is sold as-is. I will include a new 1955 chevrolet shop manual to the winner of this auction. Delivery is available up to 500 miles at .50 cents per loaded mile. I will NOT ship overseas. The VIN tag on the truck does match the title as well as the chassis of the truck.
