THATS RIGHT! Another Fantastic NO RESERVE auction brought to you by..... THE WIRENUT! Thanks ebay member PiceKvr6 for your lack of knowledge on how ebay works. You win an auction, you pay for item and you enjoy it. You dont send an illeterate email saying how busy you are in broken english....Well, your loss is someone elses gain. If you have followed my auctions over the past few years you are probably scratching your head wondering where the heck does this guy find these cool cars. Most collectors drive countless hours every weekend with a boatload of cash hoping they will stumble on the next million dollar barn find. I would love to say that I do this too, but in all reality, cars find me. People know I love obscure uncommon cars and I get countless calls weekly asking if I would be interested in taking a look at what they have. Well I guess I can consider myself lucky the last few weeks with the two cars I currently have listed. THEY FOUND ME! This 1994 Corrado SLC can only be described as a SURVIVOR! Believe it or not, this is a one owner car which comes with ORIGINAL window sticker, owners manual and two sets of keys. Many people claim their car has been babied. But how many of those people can say that their car has been babied so much that after 151,000 miles it still is on the ORIGINAL CLUTCH! Yep thats right, ORIGINAL clutch. This may be a negative to some, but I wear this as a badge of honor and a testament to how well this car was treated by its ONLY OWNER. Overall the car is in very good condition but as with any but as with any 17 year old car it does have a few defects. Back in 1992 or so it had its passenger fender replaced. The bodyshop didnt do the best job with color match so the hood, pass fender and bumper are a shade off from the rest of the original paint. No big deal... There is a little bit of rust near the fuel door. All surface. The rear panel where the Corrado badge is has a slight indentation. There is a quarter size spot of rust on the rear hatch near the window. The ABS light is on. The AC blows warm. I will try to diagnose these items while the auction runs. Fresh oil change and fluids. Everything common that breaks on these cars still functions as if it just rolled off the assembly line. Rear spoiler deploys at speed or with the push of a button. Windows, locks, seat belts and rear wiper function perfectly. Original wheels with new tires. Clutch is still perfect. Shifts smooth and handles like a dream. Overall interior is in excellent condition. THIS IS A TRUE UNMOLESTED SURVIVOR! Videos of it running/driving www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAg2exrqZIY www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cXsq6HCDeY An article in the February 1994 issue of Automobile Magazine “The Best Cars In America” about the Volkswagen Corrado. “Sometimes you have to follow your heart. Testing twenty-four superb automobiles in a row helps- automobiles with smooth powertrains, sophisticated suspensions, blinding speed. One better than the next. Then along comes this quirky Volkswagen Corrado SLC, the antithesis of Japanese Jell-O styling, all sharp edges and fatplastic buttons, with upright seating, a beltline so high you’d think you were in a Mustang, and a price closer to a Lexus than a Beetle. It then proceeds to make almost every other ride feel refined to the very brink of boredom. Grab the Corrado SLC’s fat little steering wheel and sit in what may be the industry’s best seats for both tall and short people- they’re all clad in leather this year- and you’ll begin to sense that this automobile has ben created by enthusiastic drivers. The wheel’s small diameter will keep your elbows out of the door when you fly around corners. The upright windshield will keep the A-pillar from obstructing your view when you fly around corners. You will search for corners and you will fly. For the Corrado SLC’s suspension encourages it, and its narrow-angle, incredibly flexible V-6 engine demands it. Its torque is delivered over a very wide band. From 2000-6000 rpm, the engine delivers 85 percent of its maximum torque. Even in fifth gear, there’s surprising passing power. Thanks in part to the stability provided by the self adjusting rear spoler, Volkswagen clocked its sporty hatchback at 140 mph before deciding to limit it electronically to 130 mph. But the wind and road noise discourage all but the helmeted from that behavior anyway. Isolation is not in the Corrado SLC’s repertoire. May it ever be thus. For there is entertainment in the feedback. There isn’t a more instructive clutch or brake pedal in autodom. The shift linkage could use some refinement, though. The Golf-derived suspension travels straight and true, in part because of different front lower control arms and negative steering radius. This system, called Plus Axle, also keeps torque steer to a minimum. Roll into a curve in the road, and you’ll come out the other side as fast as your courage will allow; the Corrado’s limits are high.”
