Vehicle Detail
Did you know that nearly EVERY movie has at least one Volvo in it?? 850 S70 S80 V70 XC90 240 740 760. Never noticed?? You will now!! If you are needing a reliable, SAFE(est), affordable vehicle for yourself, a friend, a second car or your new driver....you found it!! The S40 is a bit of a different animal when it comes to the Volvo lineup....but I think for the used money, you can get a TON of car!! And....I don't just mean weight. I mean value. Of course you can buy a stripped down Civic or a boring Hyundai, but why?? This S40 sports great looks, 1.9 turbo motor for some decent power, sunroof, leather, heated seats, ice cold air conditioning, full power including cruise, windows, locks, driver's seat....even a CD player!! All the "normal" Volvo features like airbags galore, ABS, 5 speed auto transmission, Winter mode if you get stuck on ICE....everything is included on this car. That overpriced Honda and Cobalt you are looking at??? Not so much....I'd bet cloth, crank windows and a leaky aftermarket sunroof are the norm. Of course a car of this age and miles doesn't come in "MINT CONDITION" but I assure you it still looks great!! The silver shines like new. The body does display some odd dents, but they are ridiculously hard to see until you lean or squat to catch the angle right. The hood has a spot that looks as if someone sat on it, yet it's far from crushed in, I can count on one hand the amount of fixable dings there are...easily dentbusted if desired. Minimal scratches and rockchips. And besides the blip on the front bumper cover (note the wiper covers missing), the passenger side door has a crease above the doorstrip. Hinestly, it looks like a part of the normal bodyline!! I only caught it because the light hit it right!! I don't see any signs of rust except for the right rear door...you can only see it when and if you get down on all fours and crane your neck while the door is opened. Very minor and typical. But enough of the body bashing!! As you can see it's STILL a beautiful car!! Below I tried to get the large flaw in the hood but it truly is hard to see. Also in typical S40 fashion, the hood rubs the driver's wiper arm upon opening. A dent on the edge of the driver's fender can be seen below. Front tires have plenty of tread left. Rears will probably need replacing soon, maybe after the winter. Rims are clean with no vibrations even at 80mph! Tiny tiny tire noise at road speeds tho. Barely noticable but I disclose everything I know! Power antenna is missing. Volvo sells replacement masts for about $14. Rear bumper cover is nearly perfect....no cuts, scrapes, cracks or damages. Most likely repainted but that just shows the previous owner cared! Below you can make out that crease on the front door I spoke of. Didn't even see it until I looked at the picture! Above can't be seen in the pic but behind the license plate bracket is the cover biff....no cracks just a softball sized area of crinkle in the paint as if it was backed into. Below you can see the gorgeous interior!! Easily a 9.5 out of 10!! Honest!! No rips or tears or damages to the seats or panels or ??? As stated before...all the power items work as they should. No problems to be seen anywhere inside or out!! The driver's bolster is super nice. No holes or anything. Heated seats on BOTH sides work great!! Climate controls work great as well! Below you'll notice ALL the dummy lights illuminate as they should upon startup with NO lights on during run. I've logged well over 300 miles on this car without a single issue! Easily getting 26MPG while doing it! Full spare tire setup is intact from what I can tell. Basic manual. Radio code card. One key with working keyfob is included. Sorry no floormats. If you look carefully, you'll notice the recent Castrol Oil Change tag...."Volvo of Oak Park" (dealer)!! My favorite part of the high mile well kept Volvo...the 'so clean you can eat off it' engine compartment!! Very recent Car Quest battery. VOLVO INSTALLED timing belt kit completed barely a 1000 miles ago!! I opened up the covers an there is a new belt, follwer and tensioner setup. Recent double platinum spark plugs. Recent airfilter. Oil is clean enough to look like it was inside a new engine! Engine fires right up with only a tiny exhaust squeak for about 5seconds while cold. Turbo spools nicely. Exhasut is quiet. Engine is smooth. Transmission shifts as it should. No clunking, popping, vibrating. No pulling or wandering while driving. No signs of any coolant or oil leaks either. This car truly needs nothing! BID BUY AND DRIVE WITH 100% CONFIDENCE! Inspect my excellent feedbacks. NO RESERVE!! Normally I take the Carfax/Autochecks with a grain of salt.....this car is EXACTLY why. They are definitely a nice tool for doing a background check on a car: Owners, floods, accidents, salvage, true miles or not, etc. A little insider story from yours truly: When a finance company or bank REPOs a car, 9 times out of 10, the companys run the REPOed vehicle straight to the auction. Why?? Finance companies/banks are NOT in the business of selling cars. They are in the business of loaning money. They don't want to mess with fixing the car, cleaning it, anything. The other 1 out of 10 ends up in a wholesaler's hands. If a customer owes $4000 and the REPO only does $3000 at auction, that's $3000 they get back and they legally make the customer pay the $1000 lost plus expenses. At least they get some or most of the money back....remember they made money off the interest also. Anyway.....as this car runs thru the auction, the finance company/bank ALWAYS covers their but by announcing "frame". "Frame" is auction lingo for "frame damage". Why do they do this?? Most auctions use an Arbitration Policy. Policy rules allow for returning the car if "Frame damage" is found. See.....imagine the shiesty auction buyer leaving the lot with a car he cant return for ANY reason (especially if he thinks he paid too much)...but now he heads back to his shop....pulls out a crowbar and finds a nice hole in the frame for a tow hook. Sticks the prybar in there and "tweaks" the hole to look like "frame damage". Yep....he now can bring the car back. Guess what?? The finance company/bank, who already got paid, NOW has to return the money and start the whole process over again!!! So....if you notice how detailed the AutoCheck is on this car.....yet no "accident"?? No "accident reports"....yet there are a few "Auction" and "Frame Damage" listings?? this is why. You'll also notice "Fleet/Lease" listed....this is lingo for "Finance Company". It's EXACTLY how I have described. Lease company announced "frame" for no returns. Then (as per auctions rules) another owner/dealer HAS to announce it again....since it's been tagged. I've been under this car. On a rack. No frame damage. Not a sign of any. Yes there may be some minor repaint, but I'm no bodyman....it's a very professional job, if so. Besides, repainting and repairs, means the owner cared. No worries!
