Vehicle Detail
One-Owner 1947 Ford 2-Door - Deluxe with tons of documentation. Original title Original Operators Manual Original Texas Sales Tax Receipt showing original sales price, trade-in value, and taxable total Every Texas Registration Receipt from 1947-1971 Recent photographs of the vehicle in its' thin, weathered, original paint - and just before the repaint - showing its' solid, 99.9% rust-free body. The car has been in central Texas all its' life and the only signs of any rust were found in the trunk pan - are minor pinholes - and remain unrepaired. This vehicle even has the original receipt, written in French, for the French Military Flathead V-8 installed by the original owner in the early '90's!!! Very interesting history with these engines. A must read for car guys. Flathead Ford engines have both history and a future. They were prized by hot rodders because they could easily be modified to put out double their original horsepower – and with more work, triple the original. The Flathead Ford V8 Engine was also the workhorse of agriculture, the military, and many stationary engine applications. They were easy to keep running with many interchangeable engine parts. Today they can be made into mechanical works of art with new polished aluminum intake manifolds, finned heads, water necks, etc that add beauty to their practical strengths. Find out more about French Flatheads here: http://flatheaddrag.com/french.html I am not exagerating when I say this car runs like a sewing machine. It came with a push button start and the car fires up with just a very quick press of the start button even if it has sat for many days. At idle the engine literally sounds like a precision, industrial sewing machine, and you can definately feel the V8 torque upon take-off. The car, as I said, received a recent repaint and also a couple pieces of trim, seats recovered, a headliner, carpet and tires, but remains mostly original - or as the original owner left it. The milage says 29,000, but I assume that it is 129,000 given the number of years it stayed in commission. It still runs exactly as it should and is an incredible time machine and conversation piece.
