usaave Store Vintage 1955 ½ ton 6 cyl Ford F-100 Pickup 62K Miles Ready to Restore, Assemble & Parade + Lots of Extra Collectible PartsLOCATED NEAR MARENGO IOWA Third Owner Antique 55 Ford F-100 With Clear Storage Title This good ole girl wants an owner upgrade. I am the third registered owner and bought this one time beauty of a pickup off the lot in 1972 when the son of the original owner traded it in. At that time, she had 42K miles on her. I thought I would date her awhile before I proposed marriage and committed to her restoration. She only had 61,534 miles on her when we jumped the broom in 1974 and I put her title in licensed storage. Although I’d made some serious efforts and had been collecting parts until the late 80’s, it’s clear to us both that this relationship is over. She is tired of playing second fiddle and has filed for divorce. I would love to see her find her soul mate who would cherish, respect and re-assemble her. She is prime parade eye candy and deserves a new beau that will bring her to life. Disassembly And Restoration Started ‘75/’76 She had been sitting near a building that burned around 1975. The heat caught the driver’s side front tire on fire. Besides the ruined tire, the only damage was the wiring and the bubbling on the windows. Before starting the restore process, the whole pickup was rewired and running. When we started the frame off restoration project, many items were reconditioned or replaced within the entire drive train. The frame was sandblasted, primed, and painted. It has been stored inside all this time. The cab, box, and fontend assembly were stored outside. I used to squirt oil down the cylinders walls after removing the spark plugs and turned her over by hand to keep her lubricated. Evidently she is tired of foreplay. She isn't moving for the 'ole hand job anymore. She wants someone who means business. Ultra Detailed Labels For Easy Re-assembly You can see by the detailed pictures, each wire, nut, bolt, & items were tagged and labeled before I took her apart so that the corresponding parts would go back together easily. I did this on ANYTHING that may have gotten confusing. Even the cross members for the bed are labeled so that they can be placed correctly. I have all the little parts labeled and organized as well in bins and boxes for easy access. Come get her and humpty dumpty her back to the glorious lean mean meadow green machine she once was. Red Title Plus Parts Pickup Collection In addition to this fabulous jaded lady, this collection includes 4 other Ford parts pickups of the same vintage. Some are more complete than others and some part on one or another are more operable that others. One of them has a red title that is included. I’m not holding back any parts. This is a package deal. Everything that I have that could go with this is included. That being said, the entire entourage must go. I won’t split up the family. If you are in the parts business, you may wish to split everything up and make a healthy profit for your efforts. I have the means to help you load everything up when you come get it and you can sprinkle them across the country on your way home. Who knows? There may even be enough of the right stuff to Frankenstein another complete truck. Approximately $3000 Worth Of Parts & Work In Today’s Prices My intent at the beginning was to spend the rest of our lives together. I have a lot of time and effort into sourcing and acquiring parts. I had done a lot of work even before I tore her down just so I could get parts. I had the heater fan cleaned and inspected and the radiator inspected, boiled out, and cleaned. I even bought a new muffler and brakes and put them on. Things that I paid $5 in the 70’s now you can’t get or you have to pay $100 or more. I even have a ledger sheet for every part that I bought or service that I had done. I still have a lot of those corresponding receipts as well. I have pretty much everything that is needed to get her back together, life just got in the way. Vintage Original Stock Parts Her five stars on the steering wheel, 223 cubic inch motor, and 3 speed on the tree transmission will give you more fun than can be had at a 5 star hotel in Daytona during spring break. She was above average and all original before starting the restoration project. I was a real purist. All parts purchased and/or installed were genuine parts (new original stock). She’s all there, including my original bill of sale, inspection receipt, owner’s manual, original visor, original glove box, original seats, original jack with accessories, and the list goes on. Also included are the complete Ford Technical Manuals. Her vintage roots can be traced back to the original sale in Marengo, Iowa and the original owner’s son still lives there. If you are up this way and want to get to know her up close and personal, I’d be happy to chaperone. Give me a call at 319-642-3728 or shoot me an email at john.mckusker “at” gmail.com to arrange a day and time or to ask any questions that we haven’t covered. $500 is deposit is due at the end of the auction. She would be a great winter project and could be ready to cruze by spring! We’ll toast the winning bidder with a swig of moonshine from our best mason jar. Best wishes in your new life together. May the black top never end and the rubber always meet the road. On Nov-05-11 at 12:59:32 PDT, seller added the following information: Clarification on Titles and Trucks: 1 complete 1955 with matching title ready to restore 1 title that can be used with the any of the following (a red title is an Iowa thing-call me to explain): 3 parts trucks with cab hood, engine, transmission, doors, instrumentation and chrome 1 parts truck with cab an box Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE ADDITIONAL TITLE CLARIFICATION AND MORE INFO: After visiting the bank to retrieve the titles, I discovered that the red title is not in a transferrable condition. The bottom line is I have one good title on the original 1955 Ford Pickup and it was properly put in Iowa County Storage. The Iowa County Licensing people will require me to bring it out of storage and pay for one year’s of licensing fee before transfer to the new owner, which is my expense. If someone wants to restore one of the four parts pickups they can get a reconstructed title from their local State Auto Licensing Department upon completion of the restoration and inspection of the vehicle by the State. This would be cheaper than if the red title were in a transferrable condition. Sorry for any confusion or inconvenience. My guess is that if someone were industrious, they could purchase the package, restore the green girl and part out the remainder. It they were to do it right, I would guess that they could have their restore job paid for by selling the parts. REGARDING THE ENGINE: I tried to break it loose with the cheater-bar. Every six months a person should have removed the spark plugs inserted oil and turned it over while it was stored. I didn’t do it that often but it was done during storage. You have to realize this has been stored inside since 1975. Since August, I have inserted more diesel & oil through the spark plug holes no less than three times. Even though everything is stored inside the humidity and temperature changes will cause condensation to form inside the engine cylinder walls. The rings on the piston then begin to form rust between them and the inside cylinder walls. This is not a deal breaker for the average backyard mechanic who restores old vehicles. Sometimes they will break loose after you have inserted the diesel/oil and let then set for a while by pulling the frame after putting the transmission in a forward gear on the road. Car museums control the inside temperature and humidity just to stop stuff like this from happening.
