Vehicle Detail
Did not sell last month, and really need the space before the first snow fall, so the reserve has been reduced and a buy it now option added that is above the reserve but gives everyone who might be interested a chance to bid. Bought on EBay three years ago from an estate sale, but found the seller in another state apparently was unaware of the vehicle’s condition (her father had passed away the previous year). She said her father used to drive it weekly at the local cruise night but it had been sitting and needed a new carb. When I arrived to transport, found it would not start, leaked from the fuel pump, and had no brakes. Got it home, bought a battery, started it a couple times to confirm the engine worked, but given the fuel pump leak and no brakes, pushed it in the garage where it has continued to sit. Only other activity was to buy a rear bumper (small dent) to replace the wooden plank the previous owner had in place. What is here: bumpers, trim, engine, trans, driveline, gas tank, glass, chrome strips around bed and roofline, an older restoration of the door panels, headliner, bench seat cover with various nicks and wear. Bed and tailgate are solid. Unique raked paint looks good from 15 to 20 feet. Previous owner rigged grill and under vehicle with accent running lights, but have not seen them work. What needs attention: battery, brakes (wheel cylinders and brake linings all around), fuel pump, muffler and tailpipe, the door locks are frozen and no key for them anyway, a couple cracks in the windshield, have the driver side vent window, but it is missing the pivot point, so wood covers in place (see pictures), mismatched tires (snow tires in the rear), driver’s side of bench seat sags. Previous owner screwed metal plates into floorboards of passenger cabin to deal with rust, but there are other holes. Exhaust ends at rear axle, needs a muffler and tailpipe. No spare, no jack, no tire iron. Letters FORD are missing from the tailgate. Previous owner substituted the spinner hubcaps seen in photos. In short, a good project car for the winter months or use it as a donor for yours. If you have questions, please ask before bidding. I have done my best to describe the condition of the vehicle that has been sitting in garages for at least 5 years that I know of and last stared three years ago. I do not want you to be surprised. In the previous listing there were several questions about the rocker panels versus the floorboards (see photos). The rockers have surface rust that a good sanding will remove, but the floorboards have holes so new metal panels are needed - extremely common in this model. Sold AS IS, WHERE IS. Listed for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early. Cash or cashier’s check for full amount of winning bid must be received within 7 days of auction close and clear my bank before vehicle is loaded on your flatbed and title is signed over. Easy access to two interstates and several major highways make it easy for you or whatever shipper you use for transport or if you want to come by and have a look in person. In the previous auction I was asked if I could meet the buyer at O'Hare or Midway airport and take to UHaul or Budget to get a truck and trailer for a tow home; if we can match up schedules, happy to help, but you will need to make the reservations with UHaul or Budget. Also, was asked about getting the Ranchero on a trailer - if you do not have an electric winch on your rig, I have a come-along so we can winch it on your trailer or flatbed manually. One final time, if you have questions, please ask before bidding. Good luck and thank you!
