Selling my 81 Mercedes Benz diesel 240d. Automatic transmission, 4-cylinder. Pros-runs great, inspected until July 2012, decent tires, seats in good condition, manual windows and power moonroof work well, averages 30 mpg! Cons-needs new glow plugs soon (hard starting when temp is cold) and as I'm selling, it's not worth spending the $80-100 to replace them (although I can get that done for a buyer IF the cost is paid upfront before picking the vehicle up), antennae broke so the radio doesn't work (Cd player works but speakers are weak), dash is cracked from the UV. The car had been painted/primered just before I bought it, I enjoyed the funky "blues brothers" look so I never completed the paint job :) Anyone familiar with this model vehicle realizes that it is built for the long-haul, with a very reliable engine designed for hundreds of thousands of miles. While a bit under-powered, can easily be driven both in the city and is absolutely a smooth ride when cruising on the highway. Mileage shows 82k and change (almost 83k), when I got the car it had 76k. As Penndot doesn't track mileage on older vehicles, I can't confirm mileage is original. It does smoke a bit when first started up, but not visibly once warmed up. I have no need for the car anymore so I'm selling. Clear title in hand. Lowball offers will get no response.
