Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 1978 Porsche 911 Cabriolet , steel Slantnose 930 Turbo widebody conversion. This is a California rust free car. .Get that $100,000.- look for the price of an economy car!!!! Note: this is a real factory Porsche 911, that has a steel slantnose turbo widebody flare kit installed. After the photos were taken, I just had the car professionally buffed and interior carpets steamed and seats leather cleaned and the Porsche looks really nice!!!! To start, I will give you a little background information.....I got this Porsche about 6 years ago as a theft recovery, thus the salvage title, the motor and some other parts were stolen. I have been pulling the car out every summer and doing a little more work to it. I am now about $23,000.- into it and it is almost there, meaning nicely completed, it is fully drivable, just not a showcar. I have too many projects, so I have to let it go, my loss is your gain. Exterior This Porsche already had the Steel slantnose conversion on the car when I got it, so I am not sure who did the conversion. I have seen enough conversions to know that the shop that did the install, knew what they were doing and it is nice and done right. It also has a Factory oem whaletail with factory rubber, not a cheap aftermarket wing. One of the headlights was not popping up, so I bought 2 new motors, and a spare will be included. The paint looks decent and the car draws a small crowd wherever you go. When you get up close you can see some of the chips, scrapes and cracks in the paint, which are... the front spoiler has a small crack in the bottom center section and some chips and scrapes as well as the top bumper. The passenger front fender has a 6" crack in front of the door where the stock and slant metal fenders were welded together and usually some filler is used on the weld seam. The side rockers have some bends in jack pad area as well as some paint missing. The passenger rear quarter has a 1 inch crack in the paint and the drivers side rear quarter has a paint scuff in the front wheel well area. These all could be paint blended by a body shop and look nice or you could, of course, have the car repainted. If you are a serious bidder and want to see some of the paint flaws, I can email you close up photos. Just so you know there are paint imperfections and this is not a showcar, but the paint looks nice enough to drive around and look respectable. I also just did New Brakes, Bilstien shocks, adjusted the ride height and aligment. It has brand new ASA black mesh 18x8.5 and 9.5 wheels with Hankook 235/40 and 265/35 tires with spacers to fill out the flares. With the brand new wheels, tires and shocks, this is the nicest riding 911 I have been in, and I have owned at least 20 70's and 80's 911's. I also did a New steering wheel bushing as the steering wheel had some play. I just did a new black 993 style cabrio top and the shop lubed the top joints and frame when the material was off. The 993 style top looks so much nicer than a 911 / 964 style top. Motor The odometer of the chassis of the car shows 140,456 miles. I had a nice (2.7) motor with roughly only 79,000 miles, that I had a Porsche motor shop put into the Porsche. About $4000.- later the motor was in the car and driving nicely. This is what the motor shop did Clean the motor and paint certain parts as seen in the photos, spark plugs, distributor, injector seals, intake gaskets, K&N air filter, throttle bushings, flywheel bolts, pilot bearing, air hoses, exhaust gaskets, muffler gaskets, fan belt, breather hoses, valve gasket kit, adjust valves, update to divlar style studs, oil change, CD box, Voltage regulator, rebuilt oil tank, oil tank float, gaskets, cap, dip stick, transmission clutch arm and spring, motor mount hardware, new sound pad, Interstate battery, fuel accumulator, fuel filter, cold start valve, fuel pump, heater hoses. I did not compression check the motor but I can tell you this (2.7) is nice, smooth and has plenty of power. All (2.7) motors leak oil but this one shows just a few small drops, about the size of a dime after being parked in the garage for 8 months. Interior the interior is not bad, The seats are not torn, they just look a little older to be honest. everything else is fine, the dash not warped and the rest interior has good color. Some new Lloyd floor matts for about $100.-would make most of the floor look brand new. The carpets themselves I would rate at good condition for wear and color. The passenger window needs a new window switch to work. I had the rear seat bottoms recovered when they did the cabrio top and they repaired top panel as well behind the rear seats. What needs to be done We already covered the paint above.... The RPM and Speedo work intermittently, not sure if they have loose wires behind the guages or if they need repair, if they need repair North Hollywood Speedo charges about $200.- for both. The Heather AC fan core that goes in the front trunk in front of the firewall is not installed. The shop power tested it and it works, just needs to be installed and hooked up the to vent hoses. The car has a clifford alarm that is disconnected. The horn does not work and needs to be hooked up, most likely because of the alarm The Blaupunkt stereo works but is nothing to brag about. I have black mesh screen that needs to be installed behind the front spoiler openings and under the front fender vents, it just needs to be cut and the screw mount holes are on the underside of the parts already, so just a little time and effort and that will be done. Let me know if you need any additional information. We still offer the slantnose conversion kits which are hard to find and the kit alone is $10,000.-!!!!! Then you have to buy a 911 base car, wheels and pay to have the body installed and painted, so it would cost you 30k+ to build one. With that in mind, it is better to just buy a Porsche like this one, that is already converted that will cost you only a little more than just the Slantnose kit itself!!! !!!!!!Please only bid if you are 100% capable and willing to follow through with the purchase of this vehicle!!!! We will be happy to assist with the transport, in the USA, Canada or Wordwide. The ship fees are to be paid by the purchaser. The vehicle is being sold in "AS IS" condition, with no warranty expressed or implied. I have tried to be as honest and clear about this vehicles condition, keep in mind, this is a used vehicle,so there may be some things I have unintentionally missed or ommitted in my description. On Jul-03-11 at 23:14:15 PDT, seller added the following information: Quick note on the California Salvage titles Just to clarify, a Salvage Title in California means the car has an Official Title and can be registered and driven on the road. a bidder just informed me on the East Coast, Salvage Title means the car has not been inspected yet to be driven on the road, and East Coast uses the term Rebuilt Title. so just to clarify, this Porsche has a Salvage California Title, in East Coast terms this is a Rebuilt Title, it has been inspected and registered to be road driven, so title transfer and registration should be just as easy as any car you purchase.
