You are viewing a beautifully restored 1965 Austin Healey 3000, BJ8, Mark 3, finished in Irish Mist Metallic with a biscuit leather interior. The car received a ground up, nut and bolt restoration by my shop, British Motor Corporation of Philadelphia, PA - www.britishmotorcorp.com - about a year ago. British Motor Corporation is a shop which specializes in the restoration of Austin Healey sports cars. We have restored over 300 Austin Healeys and have had our cars sought out by collectors worldwide. Our cars have won major shows and events worldwide. We recently had one of our Concours winning cars on display at the Philadelphia International Auto Show. This car has logged 1200 miles since its complete restoration and is perfect, inside, outside, underside and all around. Trophies for this cars wins, will be included with sale. Color of the car is Irish Mist Metallic which was a color proposed by Austin Healey founder, Donald Healey when Healey had been merged into BMC. Donalds hope was this color would be one way to stimulate lagging sales. The color is simular to Aston Martin, California Sage Green Metallic. The management at BMC turned Donald down based on the argument that the cost of using this paint was to expensive. This color has been accepted in Healey Concours by Austin Healey Club of North America. This interior is tan leather with green piping. The rugs are a slightly darker color tan than the interior leather. The British Green top and top boot are produced out the original style Everflex material. Mechanical restoration: The engine has been rebuilt, line bored and balanced. The engine has a no lead head conversion. The clutch has been replaced. The transmission has been rebuilt and works smoothly. The rear end has been rebuilt and resealed. The suspension has been rebuilt thruout the car. The hydraulics and braking system have been completely rebuilt, with new lines, rotors, rebuilt calipers, new rear wheel cylinders and fluid reservior. The fuel system has been completly rebuilt with a new fuel tank, sending unit, fuel pump, fuel lines and rebuilt carbs. The ignition has been replaced and upgraded with a dual point Mallory distributor to improve reliability. The wheels have been replaced with new chrome 72 spoke Dayton wire wheels (5) and Vedrestein tires. The wiring harness was replaced with a new correct harness. All lights were replaced with new fixtures and lenses. Body restoration included bare metal strip of all metal panels and chassis. The chassis was measured and put back into correct dimensions before rebuilding the body to perfect fit. The body received a bare metal refinishing using urethane base coat clear coat paint service by Herbert Standox of Germany. Standox is noted for being one of the finest automotive paints available in the world. The car has received the urethane base coat clear paint service on the entire car. The finish has been wet block sanded and hand rubbed to high show quality finish. This is an exceptional example of a Austin Healey. All chrome was either replaced or received new triple plate chroming.On Oct-26-11 at 18:44:34 PDT, seller added the following information: A few items I forgot to mention. The car has Kool Mat insulation installed which is a $800 option. The oil pan in cast aluminum which is about a $500 option. We have installed a spin on oil filter, but have retained the original oil filter assembly for the new owner.
