1968 OLDSMOBILE TORONADO 76,000 MILES – RUNS LIKE A DREAM – BEAUTIFUL OLD “CRUISER” QUESTIONS THAT CAN’T WAIT FOR AN ANSWER VIA E-MAIL, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL MY CELL (217) 779-6309 AND ASK FOR CRAIG THIS IS THE MUCH RARER 2-DOOR HARDTOP COUPE (BASE MODEL) WITH ONLY 3,957 CARS BUILT FOR 1968 MOST TORONADOS BUILT IN 1968 WERE THE CUSTOM MODEL OF WHICH THERE WERE 22,497 TOTAL TORONADO PRODUCTION FOR 1968 WAS ONLY 26,454 UNITS This car belonged to a friend’s dad, and it was his pride and joy. Over the last year or so a pile of money was spent on the car to make sure it ran and drove like it should. The only things I can find on this car that don’t work are the aftermarket cruise control (but I’m not sure if it doesn’t just need hooked up) and the fuel gauge. The radio seems to work, but the speakers were removed somewhere along the way, so I think it would all play if they were hooked back up. This car is solid as a rock, and runs so smoothly you can barely tell its running. The flip-up headlight doors work great, I just forgot to get a picture with the headlights on. Car has tilt/telescoping steering wheel / air conditioning (needs charged) / power front seat / power antenna. Car just floats down the road with its 455 Rocket pulling it along effortlessly . 455 was factory rated at 375HP and 510lb-ft of torque. This has got to be one of the NICEST cars I have ever driven regardless of year / make / model. In its day this car was a groundbreaking factory custom that raised eyebrows wherever it went…….The same stands true today. If you are into cars that are ahead of their time, this is your Olds!!! Body is excellent and paint still has plenty of gloss, but please look at the pictures as there are some nicks here and there. Only rust I can find is pictured, it’s near the rear window chrome, but this is a very minor spot. There is also a minor amount on the lower edge of the trunk lid. There is also some very minor hail damage on the hood, but its minor enough I couldn’t get a decent picture of it. Car has a complete set of extra side glass with it as well as spare hubcaps and some other odds and ends. Spare tire looks new, and I think it may be the original. Drivers side of the front seat has a tear along the outside edge, and the front seat has some staining, other than that the interior is VERY nice. The only maintenance item you may have to do is have the carburetor rebuilt as the car doesn’t seem to go to high idle when you do a cold start, so you have to keep it running for the first 30 seconds or so…..after that she’s ready to roll!! I don’t know what else to say, other than this is one of the nicest older cars I have ever driven.
