Vehicle Detail
I am re-posting this auction as the winning bidder unfortunately had a stroke. Selling my 1974 Standard Beetle. The Standards were very rare in 1974, and are 200lbs lighter. It gets about 30mpg(city! I drive like a grandma though...), and feels much more peppy than super beetles that I have driven in the past. It has 98,950 ACTUAL documented miles. It is an original Tucson car, and really has zero rust. I am the second owner. The floor pan has been professionally replaced with the Danish floor pan(high end and more $), as the original was a little rusty from an old battery leaking. Again, it now has NO rust at all. I am a very meticulous owner, and this thing has been babied. It gets driven about one day a week, around town, and not far- usually just to the Farmer's Market. It has had a recent tune-up, and the valves adjusted less than 500 miles ago. The motor is completely stock. The compression is great, and it has plenty of power. This thing is a driver, it can be driven daily or as a weekend car. As you will see from the pictures, the interior is immaculate, and the seats are all newly upholstered. Honestly, the only thing the interior could use to be absolutely perfect would be some new vinyl surrounding the panels at the back seat, but that is just being picky. It looks fine, it's just original. The tires are BRAND NEW, as well as the spare, bumpers are new (also have the originals, but didn't want them to get dinged around town, but they are in great shape too). The paint is in fantastic shape as can be seen from the pictures. There is ONE spot that was rubbed a little thin outside the driver's window where the original owner must have perched his arm while cruising around- I am trying to disclose as much as possible here. It has a lot of new parts, trim pieces, etc. Everything I have used I have tried to keep original. If there is a part on it that is not original, I still have the original one to go with it. Comes with original jack and lug wrench too. I have taken very meticulous care of this thing, and it lives under a cover which is included in the sale. Really though, it wouldn't take much to make this thing show worthy, but I don't have time or energy for it at this point, and I want it to go to a good home- I have a ton of time and money invested in it. Comes with a few boxes of extra parts as well as a tow bar, original bumpers, and a roof rack, which I think is the original VW factory rack. Email me with questions. Buyer pays shipping. I'm happy to assist with with shipping logistics for non-local buyers. Also has brand brand new KYB shocks all around- handles great. I am re-posting this auction as the previous winning bidder unfortunately had a stroke. On Oct-17-11 at 10:13:56 PDT, seller added the following information: The paint is in good condition, but it is not perfect. If you are a perfectionist or were going to put the little guy in a show you would want to repaint it. But for a daily driver it is fine.
