Here's the caveat : The bracket that attaches the idler arm to the frame has broken. This just happened while I was driving along a few days ago (suddenly the steering went loose, there is now 1/4 of a turn of slack), looks like metal fatigue. It doesn't look so bad and doesn't bear any of the vehicle weight but I'm not an expert so don't know if it's economical to repair and because it's not safe to drive I can't tour the county visiting body shops. I need a new vehicle so have simply decided to let it go as-is, pity as I had a lot of fun with this truck. Perhaps someone out there wants to take this on as a project. 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Z71 4WD Extended Cab Short Bed. Clear Title. Just 77, 272 miles. 5.3 L Vortec V8, 4" lift and 35" tires, 3.89 diffs. Sits 6" higher than standard truck (will fit under a 7' garage door with an inch to spare). Factory options include : 3rd Rear door, Custom grey cloth, Twin power seats, AM/FM/Cassette/CD, dark tint glass, two-tone paint, tow package, autotrac active transfer case, K+N filter, locking rear differential, skid plates, transmission oil cooler, dimming rear view mirror w/compass. Aftermarket includes alloy step-ups, lift kit, extra dark tint glass, rear air jacks. I fitted 2" Prestige fender flares and a roll off bed cover (by Access Vanish - has lifetime warranty), mud flaps, locking tailgate plus bed rail caps in October 2010 ($800). There is a bed mat and tailgate protector. Passed MD inspection June 2011 (it only needed a couple of lamps and a belt), passed emissions October 2011. I bought this from the original owner in 2007 and brought it with me from Arizona (the last 5 photos were taken there before the bed cover and fender flares were fitted). Everything works on this vehicle (except see above) - it has always been properly maintained using dealership where necessary. e.g. new ECBM and window regulator fitted September 2010 ($2000). New transmission and transfer case fitted plus rear diff. rebuilt at 67,000 miles ($4,700). I have a thick file of receipts and the original window sticker, 2 sets of keys and 2 remotes. Shiny red paint with silver lower, the body is very good but with one small score in the rear left silver panel - see photo. Super clean interior, never been smoked in, no rips or cracks. 5 American Racing alloys with Nitto LT315/75 tires, 6 bolt pattern including lock nuts. The spare has to go in the bed as it's too big to fit under the rear. No known road accidents (I bought it with a clean CarFax and I know it's history since). Very strong motor and transmission, 4WD and huge ground clearance useful in the snow. Inspections are welcome (I'm just off Route 40 in Catonsville), I will answer all serious inquiries and I can supply more photos. I can call you if required. As I've said this is being sold AS-IS and currently NOT safe to drive on the road (though it can be driven on to a transport vehicle). If you turn up with the money and no tow truck I will NOT hand over the keys. If you want it transported I can help load the vehicle. If you bid you are accepting that this vehicle is currently unsafe to drive.On Oct-17-11 at 21:02:55 PDT, seller added the following information: One or two people asked about body rust; There is none that I can see, this was a southern Arizona vehicle until last summer (where they just don't rust) and I've always touched up small chips. When I fitted the fender flares I made sure I wasn't covering any rust or chipped paint and I applied several coats of paste wax where the body would be covered, same with the bed rail covers. The inside of the wheel arches are still bright red. I've added some photos of the rocker panels and inner door bottoms. Regarding MD state inspection passed on June 22nd; If you've never lived here let me tell you they check everything. An 89 point test like steering, universal joints and bushings for wear, brake and fuel lines for kinks and corrosion etc. etc. They even do a driven test for some things like braking in a straight line.I've had inquiries about selling outside of eBay and revealing the reserve price. Sorry I will do neither. I may however choose to lower the reserve as the auction progresses.
