Vehicle Detail
1978 Chevrolet Corvette 25th Anniversary Sports muscle car Please read the description carefully as we did to include all information we have about the vehicle. If you have any further questions, feel free to email or call me at 407.300.7518. We sell vehicles locally so we may reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Relisting the car because higher bid said he did not realized car has a rebuilt title and can not complete the transaction. So please read the description carefully. We got the car on its as is condition from the auction and it exceeded our expectations!!! . Even the driver who delivered the car fell in love with it! As soon as we started it everyone came out to see. The motor is LOUD!!! Sounds just like a muscle car should sound. Drives sweet and automatic transmission shifts like a dream. Looks the motor was modified for racing. It feels so strong that if you gas too much it will slide the rear end a bit so powerful this toy is!!! If you put your hear close to the motor, all you hear is this nice clear sound. There's nothing knocking or clanking. Everything sounds tight. Did not see any leaks. Looks like the breaks, lines, bushings, suspension, shock were done recently. Engine looks pretty much new. There's also a new carburetor, performance air filter. I though I have had some pretty fast cars till I got this one. Car corresponds very nice. It's a solid ride. I love speed, so I can never have a car like his because I will not truly enjoy it the way you should. This car is not perfect, but it's a very easy fix. Just little things here and there that makes a difference and make it stand out more. This car is a hobby, a passion. Everyday you give some to get some. If you have a neighbor that likes piece and quiet and you don't get along that well, you will probably start to have problems if you buy this car since you will receive some pretty bad complains for being loud! Exterior paint looks good, no rust on the body. There are a few small scratches, especially on the front nose, and there are spots on the rear end where paint is peeling off. Other than that, we were surprised to see the condition of the car. On the interior, seats and carpet are nice and clean. Dash could use some tlc, but all controls are in place. Radio and door panels are missing. Do not understand why it has a salvage title, it has no collision damage (rear) as advertised in the auction. Some light bodywork and replace missing parts would go a long way. This is one nice car for those who like the classics, have some extra time and few hundred to put into it. We have seen these cars sell from $15,000 to over $20,000 when nicely restored - that's a great investment. We can ship it anywhere in the US for a super decent price. A new fastback rear window was the most dramatic and noticeable styling change, giving the ten-year-old C3 Corvette body style a fresh lease on life. The fixed-glass fastback benefited both aerodynamics and increased the usable luggage space behind the seats while improving rearward visibility in the bargain. A shade was installed that could be pulled forward to cover the rear compartment to protect cargo and carpet against the unrelenting sun. The tachometer and speedometer were redesigned to match the new “aircraft styled” center console and gauge cluster first seen the previous year. Redesigned interior door panels were also new as well as an actual glove box was added in front of the passenger seat, replacing the map pockets of previous years. Available options now included power door locks, a power antenna, dual rear speakers and a CB radio. The optional convenience group, introduced the previous year, now included intermittent (delay) wipers, floor mats, and the passenger side vanity mirror was an upgraded illuminated unit. The base L-48 engine generated 185 hp (138 kW). Gone was the chrome-plated ignition shielding over the distributor, replaced with a metal-lined black plastic unit. The single-snorkel air intake used since 1976 was changed to a dual-snorkel set-up on L-82 equipped cars helping to boost that output to 220 hp (164 kW). The Corvette converted to metric tires with the P225/70R15 as standard. The fuel tank capacity increased from 17 gal to 24 gal on all cars. To make room for the larger tank, a smaller (P195/80D15) space saver spare tire was utilized. Reviewers praised the car's classic strengths including its impressive straight-line numbers, especially an L48/automatic's 7.8 second 0-60 time and top speed of 123 mph (198 km/h), and noted its more refined, less rattling ride.
