ATTENTION Corn Binder Fanatics!! If you've been looking for the ultimate L-120 (VIN plate says L-122) restoration candidate, or if you're simply looking for a rock solid, completely original, rust-free vintage driver, you've found the nicest unmolested, unrestored, low miles pickup in the country! With only 53,000 actual miles, absolutely no body work, no rust and 100% original drivetrain, you won't likely find a nicer example of an old IH pickup anywhere. Great-grandpa Carl bought this truck brand new in 1952, always kept it inside, and it has never been owned outside the family. Now, the farm has been sold, the last of the heirs is moving to town and the old bulletproof truck that all the kids (and grandkids) learned to drive in must go to a new home. Originally Aqua Blue, grandpa had the pickup stripped to bare metal and re-painted dark green years ago. The paint is tired but the body is as straight as any unrestored 1952 model car anywhere (the driver's side rear fender does have a couple of dents that will require attention) and there is absolutely no body rust anywhere on the truck. The 90 horsepower, overhead valve six-cylinder engine, 4-speed manual transmission and rear end are all original equipment and the truck came nicely optioned for 1952! Convenience package included a heater, an AM radio, an interior light over the driver's left shoulder (yes, it still works), and a hand-crank starter option (and, yes, the original crank is included...see photo!!!). If that's not enough, the ash tray has a lovely Bakelite handle! Four years ago, grandson Glen drove the old pickup into the machine shed, poured some Stabil into the gas tank, shut the truck off and left it there until a couple of days ago. Day before yesterday, we pulled her out into the sunshine, loaded her onto a trailer and drove her into town. I removed the seat to allow for removal of the remains of the original (brittle) rubber and sisal floor mat and to allow for a thorough cab cleaning (the mice had turned the seat and the headliner into living quarters). I knew the truck was in good condition but was amazed at how solid all of the sheet metal is and how straight the truck is...this would be an EASY restoration! THE GOOD: Extremely low miles - one family owned since new - super straight - rust free - all original mechanically - excellent vintage tires - engine spins freely - fantastic overall condition. THE BAD: Paint is tired - mice have ruined the headliner and seat (seat frame is very good & I have a quote of $250 to re-upholster) - brakes need to be bled - I've not yet started the engine but it does spin freely (will continue to work on that). THE UGLY: Sorry...you'll have to keep looking! Nothing ugly about this truck - if you're an IH fan, she's a BEAUTY all the way! We want you to be completely comfortable bidding on our old truck so, if you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to e-mail us through eBay, or give me (Jon) a call at 701-840-8038. Check my feedback and bid with confidence...there'll be no disappointments here!On Oct-16-11 at 20:42:42 PDT, seller added the following information: Forgot to include this in "The Bad": The truck will need a windshield...see photo of a single bullet hole toward the top of the glass on the passenger side.
