Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 1982 Ford Crown Vic. This was my grandmother's car that she originally purchased used from a dealer in the early 1990's. The car's origin is somewhere in the southwest (either Arizona or Texas) which is one of the reasons why it isn't a rusted hulk almost 30 years later in Pennsylvania. It was involved in a collision either in 1996 or 98 (I don't quite remember) and it was totalled out at the time and given a salvage title. Damaged in the accident was the driver's side front corner, including the fender, hood, front bumper, header panel w/ all grill trim, and the radiator core support. My grandmother purchased a new car and then this one ended up stored in a heated garage for at least 6 years until 2004. In 2004 my father and I decided to repair the vehicle, obtain a reconstructed title, and put the vehicle back on the road. Aside from the damage it was in otherwise excellent condition at the time, with only 56,000 miles and good interior. (the car has never been smoked in to this day). We bought salvage parts, had them pre-painted at a body shop, and we disassembled most of the front clip and replaced the damaged parts. I obtained a reconstructed title through the State of Pennsylvania and started driving the car again. I drove the car as a daily driver for the past 7 years and maintained it fairly well including regular undercoating to protect it from the Pennsylvania winters. I put less than 40k miles on it over the past 7 years. It still runs and is structually solid. In 2010, the car was hit while parked on the driver's side by a drunk driver. The damaged parts are the rear bumper, the lower rear quarter panel, and the back door. Again, de to its age and lack of book value the insurance comapny totalled the car and it has a salvage title once again. I intended on again finding replacement panels and having the entire car repainted and again going through the reconstructed title process, but right around that same time the engine started knocking (I'm assuming a bad main bearing) so I didn't want to invest in both the body and the engine due to practicality. This car is close to 30 years old, so it can go in one of three directions... 1) It can be scrapped. I can scrap the car myself by driving it right the scrapyard and collect $300, which is why I set the list price at $299. 2) It can be parted out. The glass is good, over 50% of the body panels are solid, and most of the interior is in good shape. 3) It can be restored. If a person has a spare 302 laying around and the mechanical know-how, the engine could be replaced in a day. I priced out a salvage bumper, quarter section, rear door, and front fender and I could've purchased the lot for $350 ...again, someone with bodyworking skill would have a minimum investment getting this back in order. Other known issues with the car are it needs new tires, I removed the headliner due to sagging, the top of the dashboard is cracked from sun and age, a mechanic who changed the water pump didn't seal the new installation properly and there is a very small leak where the pump meets the block, the power windows on the passenger side don't work properly (the motors work, so it's a track issue), the power lock on the passenger door needs replaced, and the original carb was a variable Venturi which a notorious piece of junk. I replaced it with an obscure Holley made to replace the Venturi on this model but it doesn't work much better. This car has had carbueration issues for almost 20 years (poor design), so if anyone were to replace the motor it would be a good idea to change the carb system along with it. I replaced the gas tank a few years ago, and the Duraspark module is also new. If you have any further questions feel free to message me. Thank you and happy bidding.
