Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1968 VW "Apache Standard" Dune Buggy with a shortened Chassis #118744349, running a rebuilt (less than 400 miles) 1600cc VW dual-port engine #AJ059434 (year 1974). The Apache Standard is a Manx clone, however, the thing that makes this buggy standout from the crowd, is the fiberglass wrapped windshield. This buggy has been a project in the making, and is 95% of being finished, it is in the process of being restored from the ground up. The things that I have done over the last 5-10 years have been mostly mechanical in nature. Some of these items include: -Replaced floorboards -New gas tank, electronic fuel pump. -Replace seats with 1992 Honda Civic seats, with seatbelts -Replace wiring harness -Many other items, send me a question, and I will try to answer ASAP. -Buggy has been stored in a garage with a concrete floor. I wanted to make sure that the buggy was mechanically sound before I put money into the paint job, and it is very mechanically sound. This can be driven home if you would like. This buggy can squawk the tires in the first 2 gears. This buggy is street legal (all lights, horn function correctly), and is registered as a historical vehicle (I actually use 1968 OHIO model year plates, Police tested and passed). This buggy has been on the road the last 2 summers, and is a real head turner of adults and children. The things I can tell you that it needs are: -Paint job -Windshield -Fuel gauge works, however, it was disconnected because I had hooked it up incorrectly (constant draw on battery). Was planning on reconnecting when I took the hood off to get the buggy painted (that hasn't happened yet). -Odometer is not accurate. I am selling this buggy, because it is only a two seater, and not conducive for transporting my wife and 2 young daughters (4, 6 yrs. old), nobody wants to wait for their turn. Would be willing to possibly trade (and cash) for a 1998 or newer Jeep wrangler. Please email any questions. I do reserve the right to sell locally before auction ends, however, I would prefer to see the auction through to the end. Thanks for looking.
