Vehicle Detail
I am offering my ALL ORIGINAL "Survivor" 1992 Olds 88 Custom Cruiser station wagon for sale! This is a classic rear-wheel-drive V8 station wagon which is not made any more. It is basically the same car as the Chevy Caprice wagon and Buick Roadmaster wagon. 1992 was the last year for the full sized Olds wagon. Chevy and Buick continued until 1996. This classic beauty really is "Your Father's Oldsmobile"! This car is equipped with the not often seen 350 fuel injected V8 engine (most of these were 305), automatic transmission, power steering, brakes, windows, locks, seat, mirrors, tailgate release, cruise control, tilt wheel, rear defogger, rear wiper, alloy wheels, cloth interior, am/fm/cassette stereo, 3rd row seating, and COLD air conditioning. Thankfully, it is a painted body, with none of that ugly woodgrain that always peels off and fades. Car also has factory trailering package with large radiator, HD suspension etc, but has never had a hitch installed, or pulled anything. In a bow to nostalgia, these Olds wagons were also factory equipped with a tinted glass roof panel reminiscent of the classic Vista Cruisers of the 1960s and 1970s. I am the 3rd owner of this car. It has 57,000 actual miles and has never been run in the snow or salt. The original owner bought the car new in Texas. He was an Olds enthusiast and collector. He needed a wagon, and found out this was going to be the last year of this type of Olds, so he bought it new. He kept it many years, then subsequently sold it to another Texan who was also an Olds hobbyist/collector. This man bought a 1977 Olds 88 from me out of my collection, and casually mentioned he had the Custom Cruiser and was thinkling about selling it to make room for the car he bought from me. I immediately offered to buy the wagon from him. I acquired it this Spring and have been using it as my vacation/travel car, and deliver Ebay goods to the post office car all summer and fall. Now, I just acquired a 1972 Cutlass with low miles, so it's time for the 1992 to be sold. This wagon is in great ORIGINAL condition. It is 95% original paint, and has never been wrecked. Like any car 20 years old, there are some nicks, scratches, and "door dings" here and there. However, paint has a nice shine, and car presents itself very well. This wagon looks a lot better than many 4 and 5 year old cars I have seen! I couldn't find any evidence of bondo or body panel repair. Car has always been in Texas until I bought it, so it is not rusted or scaly like cars from the North or Midwest. Interior is also original and immaculate! No rips, tears in seats or capets, or cracks in dash. Still has its original fitted "snap-in" factory floor mats that are still in great condition! This car has been well cared for and it shows! Car has never been smoked in! Lighter and ashtray are un-used and look like new! Mechanically, I have found this wagon to be great! I have put over 5000 miles on it without any issues! Just took it on an 800 mile trip last week where it ran 70MPH for 12 hours straight with no problems, and got 25 MPG on 87 octane! I get about 21/22 MPG locally. Did not leak or burn oil or any other fluids. Smooth and powerful at all speeds! A/C is ice cold! All accessories are in good working order; one of the rear power windows can be a little temperamental, but still basically works. Recent upgrades/repairs include: 1. Radial tires replaced. 2. Radiator replaced, cooling system flushed, hoses/belts replaced. 3. Alignment 4. Brakes/wheel bearings 5. Tune-up 6. A/C rebuilt with new compressor etc, and retrofitted to 134A 7. Battery replaced. 8. Transmission fluid flushed I have most of the receipts for this work. I also have the original manuals for this wagon, including the factory shop manual. In short, this will make someone a great car! These were some of the best cars ever built by GM! If they still built cars as good as this today, they wouldn't be bankrupt! These wagons are usually all worn out and have 175,000 plus miles on them. You don't often find a nice low mileage example like this! Don't miss it! SELLS AT NO RESERVE! About Me: I collect and fool with nice interesting old special interest cars from the late 1950s to early 1990s. I especially favor original un-restored "Survivor" cars that have not been modified. I keep a "rotating collection" of 5-6 such vehices. Occasionally I will sell one to make room for a new acquistion. This is one of those cars. Car is located at my home, near Charlotte, NC (about 25 minutes from airport). Please feel free to call me at 704-661-1326 with any questions. I am in and out a lot, so leave message if not home. Thanks for looking. Now for the rules: 1. Your bid is a contract! If you are the successful bidder, you are expected to pay! Please have all contingencies handled and your money in place BEFORE you bid! 2. A NON-REFUNDABLE $1500 partial payment is due within 48 hours of auction's conclusion. This can be by bank wire transfer or cashiers check. Pay Pal is NOT acceptable for this. 3. Balance is due within 7 days of auction's close. This can be by bank wire transfer, cashiers check or cash in person. If you are paying balance upon pickup of car, it must be cash in person. 4. Car and title will not leave here until paid in full with cleared funds. No exceptions! 5. Car is sold strictly as-is at my premisies with no guarantee or warranty of any kind. 6. Transportation is the buyer's responsibility. I will try to reasonably help and accommodate you any way I can, but it still YOUR responsibility. 7. If you can not pick up car right away, that is ok. It can be kept here for a reasonable time, but must still be paid for within the 7 days of auction's close. You should arrange for insurance as soon as you win the car as I cannot be responsible for acts of God or other situations beyond my control once auction concludes. 8. An administrative fee of $125.00 will be charged in addition to the bid price. This goes toward my advertising expenses, paperwork, temp tag, etc. It does not cover all of these expenses, but goes toward defraying some of them. 9. Car is advertised locally for sale. If I find a buyer through that venue, I reserve the right to end auction early. Please call me at 704-661-1326 (leave message if not in) with any further questions about this. I am sorry for all the rules, but it seems that 5% of difficult people spoil it for the 95% who are good. Thanks very much for looking! Again, please feel free to call 704-661-1326 (leave message if not in) with any questions.
