This is basically a complete, solid car that would be an excellent candidate for restoration or use it as is. I have been driving it almost daily. If you are looking for an old VW with patina, this car has tons of it, but it is still mechanically sound. 50 years old and looks every bit of it. 1961 Beetle recently out of storage. 40 HP engine runs good but leaks oil, transmission is good and clutch is smooth. Brakes work well. Tires are very good. Headlights, taillights, turn signals and wipers work. Still has original 6 volt system. Has the original seat upholstery and door panels but they are not in good condition. All glass is in good condition. Original color was black but probably was repainted maroon in the 70's. The paint job is really weathered and has not held up well. Very little body rust that I have seen, maybe a few spots the size of a pencil eraser. The left front fender has been damaged and repaired and needs to be repaired again or replaced. The front trunk lid has cracked and been repaired at the lid prop but will require more attention. Southern car, believed to have been bought new in Memphis, TN. Seems to be complete. Battery area and left passenger floor have been repaired. Spare tire area needs repair, a new panel will be included. Please contact me with questions or to set up a time to view.
