This could be a car buffs 'dream come true', or someones perpetual 'nightmare'... My 'Toy Car', a 1986 TVR 280i, has not been driven for three years. Deciding to re-visit the 'Mid-Life Crisis',( tho' early 70's is hardly 'mid-life'), resurrection seemed quite appropriate. Sending it off to my 'Exotic Car Mavens' for evaluation, I was quite delighted when they called and said the engine started quickly, ran "smoothly" and the only problem was, they had to bypass the ignition switch because it would not activate the starter. This sounds good!!! An hour later, they called to inform that having raised it on the hoist, they discovered the horizontal tubular frame members had rusted. This sounded bad!!! Therefore, up for bid is a 'parts car', a frame-off project car, or for a creative dreamer, something somewhere in between. Now some good stuff... The engine runs smoothly (as above), the blue/silver seats are gorgeous, the dash panels-glove box cover-door trim are real walnut, tires and wheels are sound, the original spoiler is damaged but the car comes with a new spoiler from the coupe, and maybe the best part: for any 280i owner, the fuel injection bonnet and fuel tunnel are NEW... considering they have not been available for a decade might make a bid justified for that alone. Obviously the vehicle is not drivable so pickup would be required, but as it is stored less than a block away from the I-69 X-way between Flint & Lansing, recovery will be easy.
