This beautiful 1951 Oldsmobile 88 2 door is the last of the 1949-51 first series Oldsmobile Rocket 88's. Discontinued early in 1951 with the introduction of the Super 88 model makes this 1951 Olds 88-A comparitively rare compared to other 1949 and 1950 Oldsmobiles. I purchased this Olds over 18 years ago from the second owner with just 26,222 original miles . My Olds 88 has been professionally restored keeping it as close to original as possible. This is a 100% numbers matching car with all original rust free body panels and floors. The body and original black paint was bead blasted before being refinished in gleaming black. There are no patch panels anywhere on this car. The 303 CI Rocket 88 engine runs whisper quiet and the 4 speed hydramatic transmission shifts as it should. The base coat/clear coat paint is near perfect with no rust, dents, scratches, bubbles, chips, etc. The show chrome is equally as nice and the new factory matched SMS interior is amazing with added 50's style seat belts in front. The car now has just over 37,000 original miles. Always garaged indoors with a California car cover, it is a constant trophy and show winner. It was featured in January 2011 NAOC Runabouts To Rockets magazine cover car and article. It also received a 1st place award at the 2010 Oldsmobile Club Of America National Meet in Sturbridge, MA. Reluctantly selling due to my recent retirement. The photos were taken last week and I have described my Olds as accurately and honestly as I can.
