Vehicle Detail

Details 1989 Dodge Dakota Sport Convertible. I am the third owner, this truck was purchased new in Las Vegas Nevada when the first owners struck a slot machine jackpot and went to the Dodge dealer down the street and paid cash for this truck (Wilden’s Pride Dodge on Sahara (no longer in business)). About three years ago it was purchased by the original owner’s neighbors who in turn sold it to me. I had been looking for a Dakota Convertible for a long time and decided on this one because it had spent its entire life in a dry desert environment – this truck has absolutely no rust or filler on it. I have pretty extensive records on this truck and just before I purchased it, it had a completely rebuilt transmission (I have the documentation with details on parts and labor). The rebuild, along with an oil change, replacement of the front axles, fixing of oil leaks (valve cover gaskets), and the installation of an external transmission fluid cooler (good move) totaled $2200.08 and invoice was stamped 19 Jan 10. Mileage on the date it left the shop was 116,000, it currently has 118,000. Other receipts document such things as a rebuilt power steering pump and battery. I purchased the vehicle in Aug 10. Things I have done since I have owned it (I only use U.S. made parts – no cheap Chinese crap): Front end work to include replace both front wheel hub assemblies because the steering was not as tight as I wanted. Inner and outer tie rod assemblies (all MOOG parts). Front brakes – new shoes and disks. New front shocks New rear drum brakes. New rear shocks. Replaced the A/C compressor and converted to R134, flushed the entire system and put new oil. New spark plugs and spark plug wires. New cap and rotor. Replaced the original MOPAR coil with a hotter MSD coil. Nothing wrong with the original and can include it – you can never have too many OEM parts. Things I have not gotten too or you need to know: Why am I selling? Ah, like most men, another beauty has caught my eye and I want to devote more time to my other love – my 1991 D250 diesel. As you can tell, the white paint is completely oxidized and has come of in many areas – but no surface rust, well, just a little on the leading edge of the roof (got to love the desert). There is damage to the left front fender at the leading edge of the door, as well as the door itself. I have a matching white complete fender (also from Las Vegas). The damage had been pulled out slightly to allow the door to open/close without binding, but the damage causes the door not to be able to be opened from the outside – you have to reach in and open or use my custom wire hanger opener from the passenger side door. Dash – forget it. Needs a cover or replacing. I would go with a cover, if you have ever tried to replace the dash assembly on a Dakota you will know why. Carpets, I would replace instead of trying to clean/re-dye. Door panels look good, but the arm rest pads have the usual sag. I have a set of OEM arm rest pads. The transmission cover plate (the bottom) is missing – I can only attribute it to the transmission shop forgetting to put it back. Now, even though it has had work for an oil leak (valve cover gaskets per the invoice), I don’t know if they/I got it all. What do I mean? This thing had caked on grim from the previous leaks when I got it. I cleaned the undercarriage as thoroughly as I could (brake parts cleaner works wonders) because there was no way for me to tell if what I was seeing was residual fluid or something new/pre-existing. I think everything I saw was old. I have a complete set of MOOG ball joints. The truck does not really need them, I just got a little carried away when I was doing the front end work and had intended on replacing them (they are included). I have a set of OEM tail lights I have been waiting to install whenever it was painted. It has its original tail lights and the red is a little faded due to the sun, go figure. I have an OEM front bumper with an air dam and fog lights. The original bumper does have a dent, but I thought it easier to simply find an original replacement – I was lucky enough to find one with an air dam and fog light. The original air dam and fog lights are fine, but you can never have enough hard-to-find parts. Bonus – this comes with its original and very pristine set of Bosch fog light covers (try to find those). My rear bumper is chrome – I did not think Dodge put a chrome bumper on a sport model, but it is a factory bumper. I would replace with a black one. Also comes with its original convertible boot. Seats – I would recover, but they have surprisingly good color other than the fact high traffic areas are threadbare. Comes with its original owners manuals in its plastic sleeve. Comes with its original convertible top operations manual. The guy I purchased it from provided a lift kit he never installed, I won’t need it so it will be included. Among all the documentation I have is the original window sticker. The top is surprisingly weather proof and operates correctly. All dash lights work – one in particular too well. I cannot trouble shoot the low fuel light, it comes on a few seconds after you start the engine (the fuel gage functions properly though). Power windows and locks work on both sides. Always thinking ahead, I do have two extra power window motors/window assemblies I will include as well as some window switches (cosmetically, these switches were in better condition than what I have, and decided to pull them when I was at the junk yard). Have never taking it four wheeling, although I have engaged it to ensure it functions properly. Comes with an OEM instrument cluster surround. The original silver one was painted black (and a very bad job I might add). This one is the correct silver surround. Comes with two studded snow tires on original, albeit painted white, sport rims. Comes with four practically new Goodyear Wrangler tires (I bought these from the used tire guy at the Moultrie Auto Swap Meet) – have well over 90% tread. Need early model MOPAR parts? Contact us; if we don't have it, we know who does. Warranty No warranty is given or implied – sold as is, where is. Now, this truck is over 20 years old, so could there be something wrong with it I am not aware of? Absolutely, but I have tried to the best of my knowledge to describe everything good and bad I know about the truck. Also, as a vet, whatever I sell this truck for, no matter how much money, it is not worth my reputation and integrity – I am dealing with you honestly. Payment Policies Paypal deposit required within 48 hours of auction close, please adhere to this otherwise the sale is subject to be cancelled. Deposit is non-refundable. If balance of payment is in the form of a cashiers check, the vehicle will not be released for 14 days from time payment is received. For all other situations or if in doubt, please contact the seller. Shipping and Handling Could you drive this truck home? I would, but if you want to ship/pick-up, here is what you need to know: All details related to shipping are the winners’ responsibility; we are more than happy to assist on this end if needed. I would prefer the truck be picked-up/moved NLT five days after the auction close. If it is longer than five days I will require $130 – this is what I am being charged for storage. It absolutely should be gone within 10 days of close of auction.
