Vehicle Detail

Hello. Thanks for looking. I have always liked the lines of the late 60's early 70's Oldsmobiles. Incredible automobiles! I had all intentions of having this car for a winter project (probably not this winter!). However, the recent tropical storm (a tropical storm in Northern Vermont?) put a damper on my plans. I am in dire need to make repairs on my barn. My projects and a few other cars must go. My 1968 is a basket case and needs a lot of attention. I recently purchased the car. I have not done any work on the car. A previous owner started restoration by stripping the car down, removing the body from the frame and beginning restoration. I say beginning because very little was done. As you can see from the pictures most of the parts are there. The only parts I do not have (that I am aware of) are the original motor and transmission, the front seats, driveshaft, gas tank, carpet and canvas top. There may be other smaller pieces missing, I do not know. If you notice anything missing, please let me know and I will check. It needs extensive body work. All body panels need some work. The hood is in very good shape. There is a small hole on the front lip of it about the size of a pencil eraser. The fenders both need lower patches or complete replacement. The quarters should both be replaced. The passenger side quarter may be repaired with lower quarter patches and wheel lip work. The trunk needs small patches or replacement. The floors need replacement or patches. The lower doors need patching or re-skinning. All the power top items are there. The center console is in very good shape. The car body was taken off the frame and now sits on the frame, it is not bolted down. I will bolt it down prior to pickup. I am also including a 1970 Olds 455 4v that has been disassembled. The block was supposedly prepped and the previous owner started putting new cam bearings and plugs in. It has the nodular crank and E heads. I would have a machine shop go over everything. Once again it is a major project. But, it is a 442 convertible. I suppose someone can use it as a parts car. I would hate to see that because it is certainly buildable. If you are interested, please take a look at the pictures and some others at the following link (you may have to "copy" and "paste" the link): http://s804.photobucket.com/albums/yy324/twosfamily/#!cpZZ1QQtppZZ24 Feel free to ask any questions. If you need other pictures please let me know. I do not know Olds well, but I have been restoring automobiles for nearly 25 years so I do know what to look for. One more thing. The car will be sold with a Bill of Sales. Vermont does not issue titles on the older cars. I am located just outside of Newport, VT. I would like to have it on its way to its new home before the snow flies. Thanks again for looking! On Sep-16-11 at 17:21:04 PDT, seller added the following information: I would like to ask any bidders or potential bidders with less then 10 feedback to please contact me before bidding or risk their bid not being accepted. I am sorry for the inconvenience but as we all know there are many "bidders" that win the auctions only to not finalize the deal. It is unfortunate because the vast majority of people are very upright and honest. Please do not take it personal. I would also like to address a couple of questions. The trunk lid needs rust repair or replacement. The matching fourth rim is included. The rims have rust where the lug nuts are. No rust through, just surface. If anyone would like more pictures, please let me know On Sep-18-11 at 14:46:16 PDT, seller added the following information: I added the pictures of the bumpers to the photobucket link mentioned above. While taking the pictures I noticed the rear bumper is rusted through on the top lip. The front bumper is not rusted. It has a couple of scratches and minor pits as seen in the pictures. The top lip on the front bumper has some scratches. Once again, you can get away with the front bumper on a "driver" car, but this car is worth finishing nice. Thank you again! Please keep any questions coming! On Sep-19-11 at 18:53:05 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that it has no gas tank. On Sep-19-11 at 19:19:27 PDT, seller added the following information: Sorry about all these additional posts. I have had several interested parties ask how long they would have to pick the car up if they won the auction. If I have a small deposit, it would be fine to leave the car in my barn for a month or so. I am sure we could make arrangements to fit your schedule. Thanks again for the interest! On Sep-21-11 at 17:23:49 PDT, seller added the following information: Why did I ask all bidders with less then 10 feedback to contact me PRIOR to bidding? Here is one very good reason why: Hello Todd- I'm going to be frank with you. I didn't realize you were way up there near the Canadian border. I need to have that thing shipped to AZ...that's a pretty penny (over $1000K)! Plus they might charge more b/c it's in pieces. If it sold where the price is now, it would cost about that much just to get it there, and I really can't justify that cost Right now I'd be at least $1k in the hole on a $1200 car. So here's my solution...please retract my bid. However, I'll gladly bid on the car if you help with shipping costs, and by help I'm thinking at least half. That's a little more palatable for me. I'm really sorry for this inconvenience, but the location of the car is just a deal breaker in my opinion. I'd rather resolve this now than wait until zero hour. Thank you for your time! Rhett Sep-21-11 A: This is why I did not want to accept any bids from bidders with less then 10 feedback! I do not understand why someone would bid on an item and not have any idea how they would actually finalize the deal! I apologize to the other bidders and those that were contemplating bidding. On Sep-21-11 at 17:37:38 PDT, seller added the following information: Am I the only one that finds it astonishing that this "Rhett" character actually has the audacity to suggest that I pay "at least" half of HIS shipping cost? "the location of the car is a deal breaker"? WHAT ABOUT THE LOCATION OF YOUR HEAD! Where I come from we have a name for people like this! On Sep-21-11 at 18:01:01 PDT, seller added the following information: As everyone could probably tell, I am very upset with this "Rhett" character. But I do have one last message for him: Dear Rhett, I will gladly pay for half the shipping cost of the vehicle to make it more "palatable" for you, if you will be willing to pay for your hospitalization costs to have my size 14 boot surgically removed from your spankus!
