Vehicle Detail

First, thank you for taking time to learn more about this amazing car! For anyone new to shopping for an NSX, it is a hand-built Japanese supercar. An all aluminum-magnesium body and the "standard" engine produces an amazing automobile. Style, speed, handling, low maintenance and reliability are rarely found in such a high performance car. Over time, more power and other features have been added to nearly all types of cars, yet the NSX remains one of the ultimate cars of all. I purchased my NSX in April 2001 when there was about 44,000 miles on the odometer. I've driven it locally and now there is about 71,000 miles (I would photograph the odometer, but I will continue to drive it until it is sold). I really don't like to drive it in wet weather, so it has rarely been out when raining and always garaged. This car has a few modifications, but all are pretty reasonable; Prior to my ownership: a previous owner installed a computer chip for additional power the car was lowered about 1.5 inches for better handling While I've owned it: K&N air filter added to increase airflow installed SpiralMax (a passive airflow enhancer), again to increase airflow added NSX floor mats replaced the stock radio/cassette with a much improved cd-radio replaced the steering wheel with a Japanese original equipment NSX (Honda) version replaced aftermarket wheels with Volk LE28: 17x7.5 & 18x9 (2004) replaced both leather seats with perforated black leather (2009) Tires: Continental ContiSportContact 215/40ZR17 (front) about 75% tread Sumitomo HTR ZII 285/35ZR18 (rear) about 50% tread remains Maintenance is current with the timing belt, etc., replaced at 56,000 miles. This NSX handles wonderfully. There is a track in Savannah,Georgia. During January 2007 I took the NSX there once to learn more about the capabilities of this wonder-car. My NSX was able to outperform almost all the other cars there (including Vipers & Corvettes)! Only another NSX (supercharged) and 3 other heavily modifiedcars were faster. Even 2 modified Porsche GT-3's could not keep up (they were faster in the straightaway....also, this was a few years ago, Porsche keeps adding horses). Over the years, I've had several people ride with me that know NSX's and ask if it has modified (more than above), they are just so surprised at the performance. On the other hand, it is a simple pleasure to drive, no matter where. When I purchased it, I checked the Carfax and it was involved in a minor accident in 1994. I cannot attribute any effect on thecar from this and it (obviously) did not deter me from purchasing and keeping it. I am selling the car because of relocating 3,000 miles away (associated with a job change) and moving has caused me to realize I needto downsize in many other ways too. My hope is purchase another NSX (more modified) at some point. This car is in terrific condition and still has all the ability to give a new owner the pleasure of driving that few automobiles are capable of (especially with such low maintenance cost). I'll be glad to assist the buyer to help transport the car, or meet at the Charleston, SC airport. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions! On Sep-14-11 at 09:11:09 PDT, seller added the following information: Addendum: I just added some additional photo's and also need to mention a few more things: 1--I have a 2 volume NSX manual that gives anyone (me!) more confidence on how things work, how to fix--it is the same as what the Acura dealer has. 2--In one photo, you may notice that under the hood, the spare tire is missing. I have it, but decided it just limits access to the battery, adds needless weight and if I ever have flat, AAA will be called anyhow. In addition, it is ugly, and different metrics compared to the present tires. 3--I also will give to the buyer the original NSX radio, the original steering wheel (I was going to have it redone in black leather & stainless steel), a car cover & a few other items that I don't recall at the moment. 4--For anyone new to cars, the Volk wheels are perhaps the best aftermarket wheels available (I'm sure there are other great wheels that I don't know about). These wheels reduced weight ~40 pounds and are much more attractive. A few nagging issues that, again, I did not mention initially: A. The NSX has a small oil leak all while the time I've owned it. It appears to be from the valve cover. It is annoying, but each mechanic has told me that it is expensive to fix and poses no danger to anything. It only makes sense to address it when something major should need to be done. A bit of kitty litter spread on the garage floor below the engine prevents staining. B. The interior dome light only comes on when opening the doors. I seldom drive the NSX at night, so it has not been a hindrance.
