Vehicle Detail

VERY LOW mileage (46,004) southern car owned by non-smokers. No accidents; clear title. Cosmetic and mechanical condition is in keeping with the low mileage. The car looks great and runs even better. This car was recently inspected and serviced to get it ready to sell to a very close family member, so the auto is in perfect shape, since the last thing we wanted was to risk the safety of (or even disappoint) a family member. Unfortunately, there have been some medical issues (and the bills that accompany them) come up recently, so the money to buy the car is no longer there. I've started the bidding at the $9,495 price that we offered to the family member. While that might seem high for a 2003 Town Car, keep in mind that the auto is in impeccable mechanical condition (see the warranty I'm offering at the end of this description) and has brand new tires (details below) which would normally cost you $700 - $800 a set. CARMAX had offered us $8,000 before the new brakes, new tires and transmission flush (see below), so they were likely thinking of selling at $13 to $14 thousand (maybe more) after fixing the brakes and replacing the tires. As with CARMAX, this vehicle has undergone a Certified Quality Inspection (by a Lincoln dealer), and yes, they offer a 30 day warranty, but look at the warranty I'm offering (at the very end of the ad) and you will see that there is almost no chance that you'll discover a hidden problem within 30 days after buying this car. This Town Car gets great gas mileage for a luxury car, and the mileage will be even better with the new highly fuel efficient tires. We picked up the car in southern Illinois, filling the tank at the start. When we got to Grafton we filled the tank again. The trip was 426 miles and the car took 16.903 gallons for an average of 25.2 miles per gallon. We will supply the gas receipts (with mileage notation) for proof. Bridgestone claims that the new tires will improve that number by 10 to 15% (27.7 to 29 mpg.) The car was recently inspected by the local Lincoln dealer, and all of the identified issues were corrected. Both the original inspection report and the resulting repair invoices will be handed over with the car. Those recent upgrades include: New Bridgestone Ecopia EP422 tires (less than 5 miles; Costco warranty will transfer)New rear brakes and rotors (less than 100 miles ago; Goodyear warranty will transfer) Transmission flush and refill (less than 100 miles ago; Goodyear warranty will transfer)Oil change / lube / basic safety inspection (less than 100 miles ago)New 885 CA (at 32 degrees) CarQuest battery installed in July of '09 Ecopia tires are among the most fuel-efficient tires on the market, yet still provide a quiet ride and great all-weather traction. Here are their major features according to Bridgestone: "The latest in our line of environment-conscious tires, the Ecopia™ EP422™ is an all-season tire that delivers a smooth, comfortable ride. It is designed to improve rolling resistance, which helps it achieve better gas mileage. With its innovative tread compound and advanced traction technology, the tire is a strong, reliable performer on wet and dry surfaces--all year long."Dry performance: 5Wet performance: 5Fuel efficiency: 10Wear life: 9Quiet ride: 8Ride comfort: 8Winter performance: 765,000 mile tread life guaranteeUnprecedented fuel efficiencyAdditional features, specifications and the Bridgestone product brochure can be found here:http://www.bridgestonetire.com/productdetails/QuickSearch/Ecopia_EP422_%28eco%29# The brand new Bridgestone Ecopia tires have fewer than 5 miles on them and were purchased from Costco. If you have a nearby Costco, it would pay to join, as the tires come with Costco's full purchase protection plan including: road hazard protectionlifetime inflation pressure checkslifetime tire balancinglifetime tire rotationslifetime flat repairthe tires were inflated with nitrogen, not compressed air. Nitrogen retains tire pressure better over time than compressed air, which can positively impact the life of your tires, as well as the fuel economy of your vehicle. The exterior is in great shape; the interior nearly pristine. The only cosmetic issue with the car is some cracks (3 - 4" long) in the plastic cover on the right front bumper (clearly visible if you use the zoom feature to examine the 6th picture; harder to see in picture #5), but they are low and on the part of the bumper that slants inward, so they are fairly hard to see unless you are looking for them. There are NO mechanical issues Two features not listed under the "More information" link just below the "Features" section just above the start of the written description are: The Lincoln / Mercury equivalent of Posi-tractionHeated side mirrors We are confident that the local Lincoln dealer did a thorough inspection and that the local Goodyear dealer looked it over, too, when doing the brake and transmission work, but you are certainly free to have the car inspected by a mechanic of your choice prior to the end of the auction. If you are in the Milwaukee area and want to inspect and/or drive the car for yourself, email me to set up a time and place. WARRANTY If you buy the car, you can have it inspected by the (professional) local mechanic of your choice after the sale ends but before we conclude the transaction. That mechanic must have a physical service location; it cannot be a private person with no physical service facility.) If that mechanic finds a problem that should have been detected by the Lincoln dealer or by Goodyear, either I will pay for that repair before we finalize the transaction, or you can back out of the purchase and I will refund your deposit. Note that I pay eBay $125 if anyone places a bid in a no-reserve auto auction --whether or not the sale is actually completed -- so I'm betting at least $125 (plus the cost of potential repairs) that the car has no problems not disclosed in this ad. ATTENTION OUT-OF-TOWN BUYERS: I received an email from a potential buyer but did not have the option of posting the answer to the ad. So here is that question and my reply: Question: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE If you win the car, I will be happy to hold it for you and meet you at the Milwaukee airport for an approval inspection prior to completing the sale. The cashier's check, though, is a problem. Cashier's checks can be bogus and it could take my bank 5 to 15 days to find that out. I'm not willing to take that chance, but my bank cane up with a solution which gets the transaction completed on the spot and offers complete protection for both of us. Here is how that would work: 1. You win the auction and pay the $500 PayPal deposit. 2. You immediately contact the bank you would have used for the cashier's check, and you have your bank call my bank to pre-arrange a direct wire transfer. That way the banks can check each other out to make sure each is ligitimate. 3. We set a date to meet at the MKE airport. When you arrive you inspect and test drive the car. 4. If you think my description was misleading or inaccurate and you don't want the car, I will have my laptop with me and will issue a PayPal refund of your deposit on the spot. 5. If my description was accurate and you want the car, you call your bank and tell them to initiate the wire transfer. While you are doing that, you are sitting in the Lincoln, but I will hold on to the key. That way neither of us can drive off with the Lincoln while the wire transfer is in process. 6. When my bank calls me to tell me that the wire transfer has been completed, (since wire transfers are, essentially, cash transactions; there is no waiting to clear), I will immediately sign over the title and hand you the keys, owners manuals and all of the paper work promised in the ad. You are already physically inside the Lincoln (I won't be), so if I don't hand over the signed title after the wire transfer is completed, you can just lock yourself in and call the cops. 7. Once you have the signed title, you are on your way with a great car and no one risked anything. Let me know if see any problems with this plan.
