Vehicle Detail

This is a re-listing, due to buyer failing to come through on his commitment. Please don't bid unless you're ready to purchase it. Thank you. 1968 Pontiac GTO 2-door hardtop with PHS documentation. This is a 242 GTO car. I've owned the GTO for approximately two years, but due to unforseen medical issues and bills, I'm no longer able to continue playing with it. It is a sweet driver. The PHS doc's will be provided to buyer, and show the following: Body color: Flambeau Burgundy; Cordova Top color: Black; Interior: Black; Engine: 400 c.i. w/4 barrel; Transmission: 4 speed man. - fully synchronized; Rear axle: 3.23; Pushbutton radio w/manual antenna; Rear-seat speaker; Door-edge guards; Outside remote-control mirror; Custom seat belts; Rally II wheels; Bucket seats and center console; Electric clock; Power steering and power brakes; Soft-ray glass; Custom air conditioning; Front and rear floor mats; G-70 X 14 red line tires. As you will see in the pic's, the GTO still retains its original burgundy color, black vinyl top, buckets/console, 4-speed, Rally II wheels, etc. Most of the A/C components were removed before it came into my possession. Additionally, the rear-end gears must have been changed out, since it is now fairly low geared. The engine starts right up and runs very smooth. The transmission shifts very smoothly and is quiet. I assume the Hurst shifter is the original one that came in the car, and it works very nicely. The exhaust system was replaced along the way, is in great shape and sounds very good. Stock manifolds -- no headers. Steering is tight and drives great. Power steering and brakes both work just fine. And yes, it rides nice and smooth, just the way a GTO should. Lights, turn signals, speedo, fuel guage, dome light, hood tach all work (tach light works too). Windows all roll up and down. Even the ignition buzzer works. The paint shines up nicely, but has a few chips and minor scratches. The body is very straight, with a very small dent on the right rear fender, which you'll be able to see in one of the pictures. Bumpers are very straight, but the rear one is showing its age. I know that one of the first questions you'll raise is the lack of the front Endura bumper. The previous owner believes that it is a bumper-delete car, but I don't know how to verify that, and he didn't either. Previous owner did furnish me with an Endura bumper and grille pieces (pictured below) which has been painted to match the car, and will be provided to the new owner. Hopefully the pictures will show you that the seats and headliner are in very good condition. Console is in great condition, and console door is new. Door and sail panels, rear deck (behind rear seat), and dash pad aren't in such good shape. Carpet is in fair condition. Overall, it's quite rust-free, and doesn't appear to have had any significant body repairs. A previous owner glued carpet down in the trunk. I pulled some of it up along the edges of the trunk, and there is surface rust, and found one spot at the rear of the trunk pan where it's rusted through. There are no apparent rust spots under the vinyl top, except along covered area just below the rear window. I think you'll find the GTO to be a fun street cruiser that rides great and will get you some thumbs-up. I've tried to cover everything I can think of. Please let me know if you have questions.
