Vehicle Detail

This is a very, very nice example of the early Metro (1989-1994), which remains a great choice for fuel economy. MPGs dropped in subsequent years. Original sticker mileage for the automatic was 37 combined (36 city/39 highway), but EPA later revised it to 33 combined (31/35). I think this car gets somewhere in between. I love this car. I drive it regularly and it is very reliable, but I am selling because I have a first generation Insight that gets even better fuel economy. This car blew an engine at 166K miles. A mechanic rebuilt the engine but did very little else. I bought it because of the rebuilt engine and the straight body, and and then refurbished it. It has had the following work in the last 10K.Brakes: Pads were replaced at 166,461 per CarFax. I replaced the master cylinder as a precaution (common failure) and had the brake fluid purged and replaced.Tires: Front tires replaced at 166K, back tires still have good tread.Engine: Engine rebuilt, new rear motor mount; replaced rotor, cap, spark plugs, fuel filter, and air filter.Exhaust and smog: New OEM replacement catalytic converter assembly (49 states) and oxygen sensor (Bosch); cleaned PCV and EGR valves; replaced vacuum hoses.Interior: Brand new carpet; new lift struts for hatchback; removed and handwashed plastic trim; removed and shampooed seats; made sure all clips are in place; new set of used door handles; new bracket for DIN install of aftermarket stereo head unit..Glass: New winshield and sideview mirrows (used on PS and new aftermarket on DS); new (not used--used ones never work for long) DS window regulator, all glass in good condition.Ignition: Replaced ignition switch assemply (old key cylinder worked most of the time but was not reliable); installed new battery tie-down. Car has automatic door locks and rear window defroster. Heat work extremely well. Car is complete except for small trim plug and window retainer clip. It has a cheap aftermarket radio with CD player, but I think the new buyer will want to replace it. Body is straight and rust free (WA car all its life) but it does have small scratches and rock chips typical of 20-year-old car. Carfax shows accident with rear damage seven years ago (118K). I have inspected car and stripped interior to the floorboards--no evidence of damage. Black paint is peeling from exterior trim at bottom of PS window, Plastic cover to PS front turn signal has a small crack. There is one small cut (less than one inch) in headliner and duct tape residue on DS visor. There is typical wear of DS front seat from seat belt, but seat is covered (sheepskin on top, fake sheepskin on side. There are nicks in the side of the door panels where the seat belts have gotten caught in the door. There are different keys for ignition and door. Ignition key tip is worn, so sometimes you have to pull it out a tad to turn it. When I bought the car, I ran a CarFax and it recommended paying more than retail based on the condition of the car. The poor Experian AutoCheck was a surprise and I believe it is because the car was towed when it blew an engine and the owner forfeited the car rather than pay the towing. The tow operater then needed to get a new title issued before he sold it -- he also has a used car lot.. THIS HAS A CLEAR TITLE, NOT A SALVAGE TITLE.
