Vehicle Detail
Hi you are looking at a very good original 1969 Land Rover Diesel finished in Sandstone with Black seats. Where to start, history: This Land Rover was ordered new by the Government "Banks Peninsula Pest Control Board" and delivered on 1st December 1969, they owned it until trading it in for a new series 3 Land Rover on August 3 1978- It was then sold on to two men who had it for about 5 years each and in 1989 it was sold to Frank the retired Farmer who loves Land Rovers and it was his pride and Joy! Frank kept it in a warm dry Garage and polished it at least once a month, in 1994 it was decided to give the old girl a Birthday and so he did to the tune of around $20,000!! New wheels, freshen up the drivetrain with all new seals and fluids, a New Overdrive unit from Land Rover in England costing over $2000- and an off the shelf Nissan Diesel sd25 as the old Land Rover unit was tired and parts were impossible to buy. The Nissan unit is very reliable and gets 30+mpg with the new overdrive and an adapter was fitted to the flywheel so that all Land Rover drivetrain could be retained. The seats were fully rebuilt and a very durable heavy duty waterproof cloth was used instead of vinyl to cover the seats. The truck was better than new again! and Frank used it occasionally and on weekends for another 16 years until I purchased it. I have had the wheels refurbished and painted with 2 pack and regularly serviced it with new filters and fluids the last few years I have had it. I find it great fun to drive and it gets lots of smiles and waves whenever I drive it anywhere (gets more attention than a Ferrari!). Being a Nissan motor it starts first turn every time and will cruise at 70mph in Overdrive. Also the overdrive effectively gives it 8 forward gears though I only use it in 4rth and sometimes 3rd gear. Condition is very good and it could be a show winner with a little effort, the paint is original and polishes to a shine but frank did get a touch up on the left side where he scraped a fencepost once and the paint is not holding up as well as the factory paint and could be redone. The Land Rover lives inside in a dry climate. When I bought this vehicle I was looking for the best Land Rover I could find and it has not disappointed me! It is currently part of a collection of cars and I am downsizing my collection so need to sell a few of my classic vehicles. 152K miles are original and documented, Land Rover has recently had new LR OEM halogen Headlights($200), Glow Plugs and LR OEM rear view Mirror. I will assist with shipping and have received a quote of $1900 to ship this to Long Beach, California. Would be an easy conversion to Bio Diesel or WVO Wast Veg Oil. Land Rover will be fully serviced and have fresh fluids and a new battery if Buy Now is used! Cheers, 60alpine!
