1970 FJ40 Restored by Bobby Moran at Cruiser Company (www.cruiserco.com) with about 3 years / 1,700 miles since frame off restoration88,675 milesOverhauled 1976 FJ40 Straight 6 engine with 4 speed transmission, Weber carb, electric ignition all done at restorationNew paint at restorationFrame painted at restorationPower steering option (roughly $1,000 option)Full family roll cage, just installed in May 2011Full spray in bedlinerWarn M8000 winch (8k lbs pull) with wired remote controlsFront tow bar with rear lights wired as trailer lights for towing33 x 12.5 Mickey Thompson Baja Radial MTX tires with 1,700 miles on themLocking front hubs / 4wd high / 4wd low / 2wd high transfer caseFully adjustable front seats with black vinyl seat coversCustom rear seat rack with 3x kid sized racing seats w/ 5-point harnesses. I will take off $250.00 (spent about $750) from the final price if you don’t want this. Rear CLIII / 2” receiver hitch mountComes with Bestop top, soft doors and a front bikini top. The full top has a couple 2-4” rips and the velcro is old, but it keeps most of the rain / wind off. I mostly kept this open air as it should be. Kenwood KDL-232MR stero/cd with waterproof pioneer speakers custom mountedRust: this appears to be an unusually solid cruiser. It was completely stripped down and repainted / pans all lined. The only spot I can see of perforation is about a ½” hole on the floor next to the driver side that looks like either something bolted in and wallowed out the hole or it rusted around the hole. Regardless, it was all cleared out and is solid with no signs of rust at all. See the pictures. Otherwise the body looks completely solid. There are a few areas with light surface rust for example on the rear tire rack area where it mounts, but nothing significant. Notable things that work on this Cruiser that don’t always work on FJ40’s: Lights, spedo, odometer, horn, oil pressure, temp, ammeter, oil pressure, wipers, heater, steroThings that are not perfect: the turn signal switch sticks / is finicky but it does blink, one of the rear marker lights is out (I’ll try to replace bulb). Overall this Cruiser is in great working condition and it is a pure pleasure to drive. It’s a piece of history and a real head turner. I’ve driven this all over the place the last year or so. Just took it on a 200mi trip towing a small inflatable boat / trailer and wouldn’t hesitate to take it on a long trip assuming little wind doesn’t bother you. Unfortunately, I’m moving from a family of 5x to 6x and can’t really figure out how to fit us all in this at this point. Note: this bad boy is used, hard sometimes. It’s been off road, over big rocks, in the mud and even has a little left on it just to prove it - that’s what it’s designed for. There are a few dings and scratches here, but as far as Cruisers go, this one is in great shape. It’s not a museum piece but a very well restored FJ40 that could be driven daily (weather or tough guy permitting) and go deep off road. See the pictures below or at www.crank.cc/fj40.htm as they tell the story. Feel free to call me at 501-952-2845 with questions or schedule a time to see it in Little Rock, AR.
