Vehicle Detail
Well, here we go again. I am having to relist this car because the winning bidder decided to not to complete the transaction stating that "he changed his mind".... If I could offer everyone a small piece of advice; IF YOU DONT HAVE THE INTENTION OF BUYING A CAR, THEN DON'T BID ON ANY (especially mine)! So, once again, up for your consideration is my 1970 Pro Touring Dodge Challenger T/A tribute car that has undergone a full restoration. The car has had virtually everything new, replaced or rebuilt from front to back, top to bottom. The car has been a project of mine for the past six years but now she has to go due to personal reasons. The car is literally brand new as I have NEVER even registered the car since it has been completed. The car looks absolutely AWESOME and sounds equally mean!! Please look at the many attached photographs of the car, not only in it's current condition, but some photos shot during the restoration/rebuilding process. Also below you will find a link to a YouTube clip of the car. She fires right up, runs down the road (or at least my block), as well as turns and stops as she should. Please understand, I am selling this car for personal reasons and not financial reasons, so this car will not be given away. You and I both know what this car is worth as I'm also sure you know what it would cost if you tried to build the same car yourself. I have tens of thousands of dollars invested in this car not only in parts (I have a huge file full of receipts to prove it) but also in time and man hours as well. Please, no low ballers and please no trade offers. I am heartbroken to see this car go, but I have no doubt this car will be loved and cherished by it's new owner. Please note, there are still minor things that need to be done prior to driving the car which will need to be addressed by the new owner. For example, the car has never been on an alignment rack since its been rebuilt, so clearly this will need to be done prior to driving. This is truly the case of "my loss is your gain". The car has the following items: Interior: New dash pad, refurbished rally dash, new Tuff wheel, new carpet, Dyno-mat on all the floors, roof and inner door skins, new headliner, 8-way drivers seat, all new upholestery on both front and rear seats, and either new or refurbished door panels, kick panels and interior plastic trim, all new Metro-Soft weatherstripping throughout the car (doors both upper and lower, hood seal, trunk seal, new window felts, new chrome hardware (door handles, window cranks, etc.), refurbished center console, wood grain "Pistol Grip" slap stick floor shifter, new front windshield, etc., etc. Exterior: The entire body was removed, stripped, cleaned, sealed, and any damage due to rust was repaired including new lower patch panels installed on the rear quarters. The body alone has hours and hours and hours of blocking and sanding to ensure all panels were flat and smooth, then everything including the jams, trunk, and car was painted a bright 1970 Mopar "Go-Green" base coat, then six coats of clear coat. The hood is an AAR fiberglass bolt on T/A hood that fits and looks awesome. The Challenger has all the correct T/A stripes, correct spoilers (deck lid and chin), and both bumpers were OEM re-plated. 99% of the exterior stainless trim is either NOS, refurbished or aftermarket replacement and both exterior mirrors are new, as are the door handles. The car is 100% solid and any damage or rust issues have been completely replaced and or repaired. The paint and body work were all done well and the car has been wet sanded and buffed to a nice clean, smooth finish. Additionally, the underside was sealed in a tough rubberized coating to ensure durability and long time good looks. Drivetrain: The car is powered by a fresh 383CID Magnum motor which has been bored 30 over. It has a healthy street cam, the heads have been completely gone through and most all of the internals of the motor other than the crank are Mopar performance aftermarket including pistons and connecting rods, cam, distributor, intake, carb, timing chain, high volume oil pump, hi volume water pump, MSD ignition, etc., etc. The transmission is a fresh 727 Tourque Flight with a performance 2800 10" stall converter, street/strip shift kit, and has had all the bands adjusted, as well as fluids and filters replaced. The tranny currently upshifts and downshifts with a nice firm shift as you would expect, but seems to be shifting from 1st to 2nd too quickly and will need to be adjusted. This is usually accomplished with the adjustable kick-down linkage, but will be the responsibility of the new owner. I also noticed a small drip coming from the tail-shaft seal of the tranny. I'm sure this has been caused caused by the car sitting for as long as she has and this is a quick and cheap fix, but this needs to be mentioned. The car is also equipped with an aftermarket hi proformance tranny cooler and a new aluminum 3 row radiator. The entire exhaust system is also new and consists of headers leading into a pro "X" pipe, then into T/A style 2 chamber Flowmaster mufflers, then finally exiting before the rear wheels through "Megs" megaphone style T/A correct stainless steel polished and rolled tips. (again, all new) Wheels and Tires: The car features four fresh "Coy" wheels and new G-rated tires on all four corners (like new condition). The rear wheels are 20X10 and the front wheels are 20X8. They feature Coy "knock-offs" and truly give the car the pro-touring look and feel. Steering, Suspension and Brakes: The Challenger has had the entire front end rebuilt including all new ball joints, tie rods and bushings, as well as all new steering components. Additionally, the car has been converted from a four wheel drum brake car to power disc brakes on the front, drum on the rear. The rotors and calipers are all new (cross drilled and slotted) as are all bearings and brake lines, power booster and master cylinder, as well as the obvious shoes, pads, drums, etc. The fuel tank is new as is the sending unit. New shocks have been installed all the way around. The car has been lowered 3" and has a nice tight suspension. Overall: The car looks AWESOME. It does currently start, idle, run and drive, brake, turn and stop as it should, but I am unable to finish for personal reasons so some final items need to be addressed. As mentioned earlier, the car still needs an alignment. Additionally, although the gauge cluster has been sent out and completely refurbished, none of the gauges are currently working and I have no idea why. This is a minor issue I'm sure, maybe just a ground issue, but needs to be mentioned none the less. The headlights and brake lights work, as do the turn signals, but side marker lights do not currently work. The wiper arms have not yet been installed although the motor works fine. The car will need a final tuning and some fresh gas as she has been sitting for several months now and smells of stail gas when running. These are all minor issues, but I am unable to complete the final finishing touches myself, so please plan on having to take care of these things yourself. Terms: I am not here to waste your time and I'm definitely not interested in wasting my own so here we go... please be serious about buying the car and completing the transaction or DO NOT BID. Additionally, if you do not have the funds ready and available, DO NOT BID. If you have less then 10 (ten) in your feedback, please contact me through eBay BEFORE you bid, or I will cancel your bid and block you from bidding again. Please make sure that your funds are available and ready before the auctions end, not afterwards. If you care to view the vehicle or have it inspected, please do so BEFORE auctions end. You are buying a car thousands of dollars undervalue, and therefore you are buying it AS IS, WHERE IS. I will assist the new owner with transportation arrangments as best I can, but it is the responsibility of the owner to secure transportation as well as any related expense. I will require a $1500. non-refundable deposit through PayPal with-in 24 hours of auctions end, and the balance to be paid in full in no longer than seven (7) days of auctions end. If any of these terms are a problem or issue for you, then please do not bid. I am sad to see this car go, the last thing I want to have to deal with is chasing down a non-paying bidder AGAIN!! By bidding you must understand that you are entering into a binding contract. If you do not complete your half of the transaction, I will report you to eBay, leave appropriate feedback, and block you from bidding again. Sorry to sound like a hard ass here, I'm sure you can tell by now that I'm not really happy about selling her, and even less happy about dealing with bidders that have no intention of completing the transaction. YouTube video clip of Challenger (walk around): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eltAwZhzA8&feature=player_detailpage Please feel free to contact me through eBay "ask seller a question" or you can email me directly at GatleyInc@yahoo.com Thanks for looking, good luck if you choose to bid! On Aug-24-11 at 18:29:28 PDT, seller added the following information: If you have any concerns, hesitations, questions or apprehensions, then PLEASE ask me and I will do my best to answer any questions that you may have. I am also willing to take any additional photographs of the car if there is something you would like to see that is not currently shown. It was brought to my attention that there are no photographs of the motor in the car (completed) and I tried to add more but eBay would not allow me to add any more pictures since the auction is already underway. If you would like to see some photos of under the hood, or in the trunk, or whatever, please just ask me. I would also like to HIGHLY ENCOURAGE anyone who is seriously considering this car to please come and view the car now before the auction ends. I am also happy to have a phone conversation with you if that is easier for you.
