For sale is a very rare, original, unrestored 1955 Oldsmobile Super 88 convertible. Cowl tag reads: Lansing, Michigan style No. 55 3667DX Body No L 2157 Trim No 365, Paint No 20 Burlingame red. Factory original options include: Power steeringPower brakesPower bench seatPower convertible topDeluxe AM radioPadded dashFactory genuine leather interior (standard on Super 88 models) The following has been rebuilt: 12 volt generator starterFuel pump using new neoprene diaphragm to resist unleaded ethanol fuel erosionAll new brakesMaster cylinder rebuildNew radial white wall tiresNew single exhaustThe original drive train has been recently rebuilt with around 1000 miles since rebuild. All miles are believed to be original at 93,648. The original interior shows some wear on the carpet. There are some seams that have come loose on the driver's side seat back that could be re-sewn. The original dash pad is still soft and free of cracks or tears. All chrome on the dash is mint, still bright with no pitting. Glass is all in good condition except for the windshield that is cracked on the passenger side. A new windshield can be found from a supplier in Minnesota for about $230. All of the body side stainless moldings are straight and free of dings except for one 4 inch long piece on the right quarter panel. The pot metal (airplane and nose emblem) are bright and free of pitting. The rear trim panels are in good condition with no rips or tears. The front door trim panels are in good condition, but the arm rests show some wear. The original top frame is rust free including the front header. The original top is not in the greatest of conditions, the rear plastic window has been removed and the 61 year old white top is stiff. The rocket 88 and center Olds emblem on the trunk are also pit free. Both front fender 88 emblems are new, purchased recently. The floors and floor braces, trunk, sheet metal are rust free except for one small spot on the bottom of the left front fender and a small hole on the rocker panel. There are not many all original 61 year old survivor 88 convertibles out there. This car is being sold as is with no warranty.
