Vehicle Detail

I am relisting my 1977 Honda CB550K. I have raised the starting price slightly, but removed the reserve, so bid away knowing that the bike will definitely sell at whatever the final price is. I am the 3rd owner of the bike. I bought it in March from the family of the second owner who purchased in 1980 with 7,000 miles on the clock (I have the paperwork from the purchase). Apparently he had hip surgery shortly after purchasing the bike and so he parked in his garage with 7,051 miles on it and never rode it again. When I bought it it still had its original tires on it (when I put on new ones the tubes were dated 1977) and a plate dated 1984. The bike is just like it would have been on the showroom floor in 1977 except for the bars (Bikemaster European bars), the grips (Randakk's Amazing Grips), and the tires and tubes (Conti front, Kenda Challenger rear). The exhaust, all body work, the seat etc. are as they came from Honda in 1977. It even has the full factory tool kit (including the very important spark plug removal tool) and the owner's manual. The bike also comes with the Honda accessory luggage rack and sissy bar pictured. I'll even throw in the original higher bars if you want them and a Dowco Weatherall cover (a bit worn, but still in decent shape). The invisible parts replaced were the battery, the carb gaskets and o-rings, the spark plugs, one turn signal bulb and the turn signal flasher unit. The carbs were thoroughly cleaned (I have pics if you want to see them) and synched, I gapped the plugs and points, and checked the timing. Since then all I have done is change the oil 2x and adjust the chain a few times. This bike is very reliable and a lot of fun to ride. I got it back on the road in mid-May and have put approximately 4,200 miles on it. I ride it as regular transportation in nice weather and have taken several day trips in the 350-400 mile range and a recently completed a six day, 1,400 mile ride around Lake Michigan at the end of July. The bike ran perfectly from start to finish and turned in gas mileage between 46 and 51 mpg while doing it. So that's all the good. The bad, well there really isn't anything bad, but the bike is 34 years old and as I said, it's regular transportation, not a trailer queen. There are some scratches in the clear coat on the tank and one of the side covers (see the pictures), one of the four mufflers has holes at the very end (see the pic's), the gauge faces are faded, and it really should get a new air filter. Beyond that, this is a super clean original bike that will be a pleasure to own and ride for experienced riders and newbies alike. Shoot me an e-mail with any questions. A $500 deposit will be required from the winning bidder. If you have zero feedback please contact me before bidding. Thanks.
