Vehicle Detail
NO RESERVE! The engine will start and run smoothly despite the loud rapping of the #5 rod bearing, and the raw gasoline pouring past the dried up seals of the triple Weber carburetors. The parts that are missing are all the exterior BMW roundels, some tools from the tool kit, the radio antenna, the shift knob, and one small piece of wood trim. The body appears to be in good condition, and was originally undercoated. The worst rust/rot appear to be the knockout covers in the foot wells. All four jacking points are solid, and the original jack lifts the car easily. The worst visible rust (besides the obvious, crappy, re-paint job) is along the inside underedge of the trunk lid, the engine hood, and the trailing edge of the front valence panel. Poking around with a screwdriver, the area behind the front wheels is rusty, but not rotted through, the spare tire well is also rusty, but not rotted through. The worst part of this car is the interior - the original leather seats are dried and cracked, the wood trim has lost its' top coat and is delaminating, and the plastic/chrome trim parts are oxidized/corroded. Besides the electric windows and electric sunroof, this car has a telescoping steering column. An interesting bit of history, this car was purchased new in California by the manager of the 1970's epic rock band, BOSTON - I am the third owner. This vehicle MUST be towed away, there is NO hope it can be driven home! - no battery, ancient gas, leaky carburetors, clutch disc rusted to flywheel, and if applied, I doubt the brakes would retract.
