Vehicle Detail
1969 V8 Mustang Grande. This car needs finished. I have lost interest and do not have time. This used to be my daily driver in high school and college, and everything is there. I had to tear it down for shock tower repairs and decided to tear it down further for body work, but never put it back together. Manual drum brakes, power bump steering. Below is a description of where the car is at, and what it needs. Body - The body restoration has been done, including new chrome, quarters, hood, one fender, tail light panel, rear valance and paint at a cost over $7,500. The commonly problematic shock towers have been repaired and reinforced by a professional at a cost of $1,500. The engine bay was painted at time of body work. The paint and chrome looks really nice. It is a 69 color, but not the original color for the car, which is Whimbelton White. I had a rear valance installed with cut outs for dual exhaust. Car has a hood scoop with the grills and turn signal indicators intact. Drivetrain - The engine and tranny has been rebuilt by a professional machine shop, but not yet reinstalled. I have the original 2v manifold and carb, but elected to install an edelbrock 4v manifold and have not yet purchased the 4v carb. The C4 auto transmission was rebuilt, but I have not yet purchased the torque converter. The old one was discarded. The engine was bored .030 over, the cylinders line bored, the blocked decked and the heads rebuilt. It was a complete rebuild, and I have the cam card and receipts. The cam is slightly agressive and may require a torque converter stall slightly higher than stock. I have the original radiator and enigine driven accessories that were on it when I was driving it, and they worked then, and are still ok. The exhaust system I used when driving the car is still there, which comprises of dual pipe with cherry bombs. Can use but you will most likely want to replace. Interior - the drivers seat has some tears and the dash pad and door panels were trash. I have purchased a new dash pad and had it dyed at a cost of $1,000. I have also purchased new door panels and had them dyed as well at a cost of $1200. The headliner is new and was replaced when the car was repainted. The car was equiped with the deluxe pony interior. The side glass is the glue in type. They will need to be re-glued prior to assembling the door panels. I purchased a new front speaker for the underside of the new dash pad. The carpet is in good shape. I have not yet done anything with the wheels and you will need to purchase a new set of rims and tires - typically $990 for magnum 500 wheels with tires from Mustangs Unlimited. Suspension & brakes: When I had the shock towers rebuilt, I replaced all of the front suspension components. Will need shocks and possibly new wheel cylinders since it's been sitting a while. To get on the road you need the following major components: rims & tires, carb, torque converter, side glass glued in, possibly exhaust, some loose nuts & bolts, etc. On Jun-26-11 at 19:48:10 PDT, seller added the following information: Added 6/26/11: The electrical components are all in good shape. The connectors are all there, never hacked on. Good hose from heater core through fire wall. I have purchased new motor and transmission mounts which I will include. New pictures of engine and engine bay attached. 6/30/11 - RESERVE REMOVED 7/4/11 - I can be available any evening this week to preview the car. If interested in previewing, email me through ebay for my phone number. It is my recommendation that you look at it before bidding. Other notes: regarding the body work, the rear inner fender wells and tail light panel were replaced when the quater panels were installed. The engine is a mechanical lifter engine which will require special break in and eventually periodic valve lash adjustments. All of the door, truck hood and other body gaskets were replaced by body shop. Window felt will need installed after the installation of the door glass. Interior: Head liner was replaced at time of body work. All of the woodgrain trim is in really nice shape. 7/6/11 - Interior notes: Regarding the interior, the headliner was replaced, sun visors are in place and in good shape. The carpet that was in it when I drove it is still there - it seems to be in decent shape. The drivers seat has some tears and all seats are dirty and faded. The seats are not bolted in place, as the side glass has to be glued in first. The Dash pad is new and still in the box. The original one was removed for the body work and is in the truck. The seat coverings are the deluxe comfort weave and are not made after market that I could find. Seat coverings will be expensive. The deluxe door panels were purchased and dyed and are still in the box. They cost me over $1200 for the pair. All of the wood grain trim is in excelent shape. The instrument clusters look great and work fine. This car has a clock on the passengers side above the glove box, but I can't remember if it works or not. The radio will need replaced. All in all, I would rate the interior (once put back together)at a 6/10. Seat belts are all there and in good shape. The steering wheel is a rim blow, and the rim blow vinyl is coming off in spots. All of the components/parts are there to put the interior back together. My plan was to put it back together and then get seat coverings down the road. 7/7/11 - In response to a question regarding the paint: There is one small chip on the drivers door, approximately 1/32" in diameter. Also, the exhaust got against the rear valance paint and chipped a small spots. Both spots can easily be repaired with touch up paint. The paint consisted of base coats, a coat of clear & base mixed and clear on top.
