Vehicle Detail
For over 6 years this has been our project, our beater, our canvas, our toy, and our friend. Runs like a Swiss watch, no matter how hard we abuse it. (and believe us, we have) It has NEVER failed to start on the first turn. Even after long winter storage. Will haul nearly anything, from 24' lumber, to 3/4 Ton of rock, the sky is the limit. On-Road, Off-Road, and sometimes up in the air, it's been there. It's been used as a workbench, jumped on, punched, kicked, hit, chased, beaten, shot at, rained on, and even set on fire, but it still refuses to die. What the heck is it? The title claims it's a 1991 Nissan Sentra with 158k miles, but we know better; It's: "Da Hoopty" We've had it too long, and we can't kill it, so we need someone else to take over. --- 120v outlets in the trunk and back seat. 350 watt inverter. LED Rope lighting. Aluminum partial roof stows in the trunk. 4” lift. Cruise control, Automatic. 2” Trailer Hitch Receiver. Good tires: 2 Yokohama, 1 Uniroyal, 1 Michelin. :) Stealth mode switch kills brake lights for those night time “adventures”. 5 gal water reservoir in trunk for “tail-gater avoidance system”, or the car doubles as a fire truck while in reverse. Always garage kept, and covered and stored in the winter. All cuts have been capped, welded, ground and painted with no sharp edges. Heavy reinforcement rails were welded on for structural support, and covered in Silver Duct-Tape. Everything works besides the air conditioning, but who cares about that in a chop top? Under hard acceleration it hesitates going into the next gear. Drips oil, about 1 quart per tank of gas. It has done this for a while, and isn't getting any worse or better. Could be the main oil seal, but we're not positive. Keep it topped up, and you're fine. We've taken it on some fairly long trips with no problems. This is now a Classic car! This is the funnest car you'll ever drive. Too much to list, and too many stories. A picture is worth a thousand words, as they say: Insert Trailer Here ..............................................^ Rain or Shine Perfect for those pesky Tail-gaters: Serious Power. Any Questions? On Aug-05-11 at 13:59:43 PDT, seller added the following information: Da Hoopty The Hoopty was never meant to be professional, it was meant to be fun and functional. This all started from myself owning many beautiful cars, 3 Lincoln Town Cars, a Porsche, Mercedes, some cars that were really spectacular to look at, even if they didn't drive very well. I was always over protective of my cars getting scratched or having something set on top of the paint, and worrying about getting them dirty. I was talking with my friend (the other owner) one day about how nice it would be to have a second car that you could just not care about the paint or body, and not be concerned if it got dirty, or dinged or dented. At that time I drove a stunning Lincoln Town Car. Thus began the search, for something cheap and reliable... But the mainly, just to have fun. After buying a Mini Van, and having the motor and transmission blow up at the same time, we realized we needed something that looked like a heap, but actually ran well. We scrapped the van, in exchange for: Da Hoopty. It has evolved ever since. Any time we thought of a crazy idea, we were working it into the car somehow. One time on our yearly Christmas light watching drive in the freezing cold, we thought, why not put lights on the car itself, and let other people watch as we drive by. That resulted in an immediate trip to the hardware store, for some clearance LED rope lighting, and a power inverter. After years of being frustrated by tailgaters we devised the system to fight back, and it always works fast. Just a pump, a nozzle, and a bucket in the trunk. It's really liberating to just grab a drill and bore a hole through the side of the car to install something, without even thinking twice or caring about how my precious paint job will be ruined. It's all about fun. We had a run in with the police one time for using our sprayer system. After dousing someone for staying right on our bumper and cutting us off, we arrived back home to find a squad car in the driveway. After a quick demonstration of our system the officer couldn't hold his composure any more and busted out laughing. He said there was no regulation about using our system, but there was for tailgating and cutting us off. We were in the right for once. We even got him to sign the spoiler of the car, including his badge number. That was freakin' sweet!Another occurrence with the law happened shortly after we bought it before the plates were registered with the state. The previous owner had lost their license for DWI. We got routinely pulled over one night, they asked for “license and registration” the officer went back to his car for what seemed like an eternity, until 6 squads came from all directions surrounding us with lights flashing. They all got out and just wanted to check out the car. It was probably the entire So. St. Paul police force, since they really had nothing better to at 10:30 on a Saturday night. After gawking and pointing with flashlights at the car, checking all the cool stuff out, they wished us well, and sent us off. Unfortunately that was before we had the idea of having the police sign our car. We could have collected a bunch that night. Then there was the announcement over the intercom system at Home Depot: “Whoever thought it was funny to park inside the cart corral, you have 60 seconds to remove your car or we will call the police” We got to the front of the store to see a crowd of laughing employees, and one very angry manager. Good times.
