Vehicle Detail

Let me start off by saying this is going to be a no reserve auction. I have all ways wanted to do a no reserve auction so here we go. Remember high bidder gets the car. This is a 1954 Hudson Hornet club coupe. Car was bought new here in Idaho, and has never left the state. I got the car from a friend in a trade deal and was able to pull parts from his other three 54 Hudson parts cars.To get the best parts for this coupe. The car was brought home about a year and a half ago. And then I started to tear it down. Hood, doors, fenders and trunk lid were all removed. All trim on the body, and the interior was removed from the car. The body and all sheet metal parts were sanded down and sprayed in high build primer, sealer and shot in Hot Hues single stage matt black paint.(finish is a paint, and not a primer or a sealer) Interior pieces were painted in light oak single stage paint. Inside of the car was painted in POR 15 as well as the inner fenders and grill backing pieces. The inside was then covered in XXX rattle trap sound mat. On the roof, floors and inside the doors. A new interior was installed using four shades of tan. The carpet being the darkest, and the headliner being the lightest. A new painless wiring harness, Kenwood CD player with front and back speakers. New light tinted side glass, with all new gaskets, seals, run channels and sweepers. All of the interior trim and exterior trim was polished. Some trim pieces has light scratches and dents on them. Not all of the exterior trim was put back on the car. Some pieces were removed to clean it up a little. All of the interior trim is from a 1955-1956 Chrysler New Yorker. A rebuilt 1967 327 chevrolet engine was installed. Please note engine IS NOT A CORVETTE ENGINE. It is a 67 327 dressed out to look like a 67 Vette engine. Exhaust manifolds, valve covers, shielding and stickers were used to dress out the motor. Engine has 175 lbs of compression in all of the cylinders, double hump heads, performer manifold and carb. Transmission is a Saginaw three speed with overdrive, rebuild drive line. Rear suspension is stock Hudson running the stock Hudson rear end with 456 gears.(stock gears for a overdrive car) Front suspension is stock with one and three quarter coils cut out to lower the front, and an inch and a half lowering blocks put in the back. Stock rims were painted to match the body, with new tires trim rings and 1947 Hudson center caps. The radiator is a new aluminum 1961 Chevrolet Impala radiator painted black. 1959 Chevrolet fan shroud cut down to fit. New shocks front and rear, new brake lines, hoses, wheel cylinders, master cylinder. Gas tank was cleaned as was stock sending unit. New fuel lines and fuel pump were installed. Shifting linkage was made as well as new clutch linkage. A new duel two inch exhaust system was installed with 12 inch glass packs. Exhaust system stops at the glass packs for a more agressive sound. I have over 300 pictures of the car, as well as pictures on a lift. Please let me know if you would like them, and I will send them to you. There are a few things that need to be finished on the car, But you can jump in and drive anywhere as it is right now. Please let me know if you need my phone number, and I can go over what else needs to be done on the car. They are very minor things. Good luck, it is a fun car. And it will sell to the hight bidder. NO RESERVEOn Jul-29-11 at 14:26:09 PDT, seller added the following information:To try and head off some of the questions I am getting, I will list some stuff about the car. For people wanting info for shipping. Car is 17 1/2 feet long. 6 1/2 feet wide at the doors. 5 feet tall to the top of the roof, and would weigh about 3800 pounds + or -. About condition of car. Rust is not a problem on the car at all. Trunk floor is very nice as well as floors in the car. Have pictures on the lift showing the bottom, as well as the bottom of the hood, doors and trunk lid. Please send me an email if you would like the extra pictures. The car was not sand blasted. Stock black paint was sanded down and then work was done over the top of it. The hood, front fenders and trunk lid are very nice pieces. Doors and rear quarters had light dents and small scraps down the side. Not bad at all for a car this age. There were small repairs done just above the fender skirts. In the lip above the skirt. Hudson changed the design of this spot in 54. And it does catch dirt in that spot. Repair was about eight inches long and about two inches high. Rockers are clean as well as rear quarters in front of, and in back of rear fender skirts. (see extra pictures)The bottom of the car was pressure washed, and then painted in POR 15. It is clean on the bottom. But I would not want to eat off of it. Nothing was done to the front or rear suspensions, other then what was needed to lower the car.So suspensions do show some caked on dirt and grease. Car does not ride on the bottoming out pads. And does still have suspension travel, Rides pretty good for being lowered this way. Drives straight, brakes good. All of the side trim is the original trim for this car, and has not been straightened just polished. So it does show light dents in the trim and scratches. The body work was not done to show standards, meaning if the body was flawless I would not have painted it mat black. When sighting down the sides you can see slight waves and imperfections.Once again, car was built to be a driver. Not a show car. Interior is very nice, sound system is very nice, steering wheel shows a couple of fine cracks. Glass is all good. The only chrome that has been redone is on the front bumper and guards. All of the rest is original and does show light pits in places and dull finishes in the chrome. But it does look good and shows well. As far as what needs to be finished. Keys have to be made for the door and trunk locks. I have the weather stripping for the trunk lid. But do not have it for the doors( having trouble getting it from the Hudson reproduction place KGAP, out of stock)Heater core is in, but heater control valve needs to be rebuilt. Do not need it, a heater hose shut off valve could be used. Windshield wipers are hooked up. But vac wiper motor needs to be rebuilt. A kick down switch needs to be installed, to kick it out of overdrive and into passing gear when you step on it. I just take it out of overdrive. And the last thing are the gauges. Car was a 6 volt car. It is now a 12 volt car. You can knock the 12 down to 6 for the gauges. But they will still not read correct. I was going to remove the guts from the gauge housing and mount modern gauges in there. But after deceiding to sell the car, I thought some one might want the stock gauges in the dash. The oil and amp gauge are lights. Motor has new light oil pressure switch in it. Stock Hudson 308 temp sender is in the new motor, And the gas sending unit is cleaned and in the tank. All of the wiring is right at the gauge cluster. A choice has to be made witch way to go on the gauges. That is all that needs to be done on the car for how I was going to finish it out. Please ask if you have any other questions.
