Vehicle Detail
Selling a 1984 Chevy Blazer Custom Deluxe Ex-Military 4x4. This vehicle was used as a communication vehicle for the army as was known as the CUCV. They are built to go anywhere. It has a 6.2 Liter detroit diesel engine in it. It has been converted to the 12 volt electrical system and comes with front and rear air (needs freon) and CD player. This is the only one I have found with A/C. Truck has 52,000 original miles on it as these guys sat on base day and were driven sparingly throughout their life in the military. This vehicle was purchased from the military by a mechanic who serviced it for years prior to purchasing it. He sold it to me and I have driven it as a daily driver for the past two years. This has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned and if my wife did not hate it, I would not be selling it, but she refuses to drive in a 'camo beast'. So, after listening this for 2 years, it is time to let it go. I drive this truck every day back and forth to work and it gets great gas mileage for an SUV (gets 18-22 in town and at least 25 on the highway). The diesel is built to last and starts everytime I turn the key no matter what the temperature. 4x4 works great and shifts very smoothly. Just pulled out some boxwoods from in front of the house the other day and after hooking the chain up to the tree and the truck, I put the truck in drive and it quickly and easily pulled them out in 4 high without even feeling a tug. For a 1984, the body of the truck is in great condition. There is a little rust here and there, but nothing major and none underneath the vehicle. I took a picture of the rusted spot on the drivers side door panel. The reason this spot looks so bad is b/c the first summer I had the truck, I was backing up and had my door opened and hit a concrete post with the door. It bent the hinges back and put a dent on the inside of the door. We rebent the hinges back and the door shuts, but is not flush and does not catch the locking mechanism. Because of this, a hard rain can push water down there. As you can see from the picture, the door shuts and it is fine; I just had the truck inspected last month and it was not a problem. If I were to keep the truck, I would personally have a body guy look at it and for $200 or so, he could fix it and repair the rusted spot very easily (I had this checked on, but the wife would not let me spend any more money on it.) The only other issue I know of on this truck is the gas gauge is finnicky. It will go to full when you fill up but goes down to empty when there is half a tank left. My mechanic said it is the ball inside of the tank and not worth the money to fix it. I just gauge it out myself and know when to fill up. I have never had an issue, but there is also a military issued 5 gallon gas can that comes with the truck and I keep it full just in case something happens. Other than that, this is a great truck and I love driving it. I have NEVER had any problems with this truck and it starts every time. This would make a great hunting truck or mudding truck or even just a daily driver. Gas mileage is better than any 8cylinder SUV around. I would jump in this truck today and have no problem driving it cross country with my family in tow (except for the fact that my wife would not get in it) and feel completely safe. You will not find a better truck for the money. - Top comes off and makes for a really cool look when it is off. - Seats are good with some minor tears in them, but I keep seat covers and they will come with the truck- All lights and wipers work fine and new bulbs have been put in most of the lights- Hitch and trailer DO NOT come with truck. They are not mine. Just using them to get a load of mulch for the yard.- I have a 5th tire and wheel that comes with the truck. It matches other tires- Truck has manual locking hubs for 4 wheel drive- Front and rear bumpers and seriously heavy duty and made of pure steel
