Vehicle Detail
7/29/11 update: -- people have been asking questions and one came over to see the car yesterday. We even checked the 4W drive, and he offered the starting bid price. I said I wanted to continue with the bidding. In summary, I believe the car is reliable. On 7/19/11, I received this message from eBay: “Congratulations! Your item just sold. The buyer has been sent an email reminder about paying the deposit through PayPal. You should also follow-up with the buyer to confirm your arrangements for the remaining payment.” The top bid was $1,600, but then the person backed out. He wrote: “I would like to apologize for bidding on your item, I'm not going to be able to meet your request because i am being sent to a combat outpost with no phone or internet communication and wont be back till mid-august. So i think it would be best for you to just awarded the jeep to the second highest bidder. I'm very sorry” This same person had previously written, “Hi there, interested in you jeep, needing a four wheel drive. I'll give you $2000 for the jeep, only thing is you'll have to hold it till sept till i can come pick it up, currently deployed. Let me know what you think.” Here is more information about the Jeep – expanded from the previous listing: This “Jeep Cherokee 4WD 4DR Sport” with bucket seats and 4.0 Litre “Power Tech Six” engine recently passed inspection. The next one is due on May 31, 2012. It is 4-speed automatic transmission with driver’s airbag. There are 131,462 miles on it, and it has a 20.2 gallon fuel tank. There are two remote-control mirrors. It runs well. For an initial minute, the belt may squeal a bit, but then the noise stops. There may be some oil that dropped -- making the belt slippery until it warms up. Part of the rubber panel-strip on the right side is off, but I still have it – could be refastened. I was not planning to sell this car, but a neighbor was selling a 2002 car. I bought it. It was a good deal, and I don’t need this Jeep. The A/C works well-- have never had to repair it. The gear drive chain was recently making noise, but that problem has been fixed with a replacement part. Also, a new catalytic converter was installed in April of this year. The glass is tinted, and the steering wheel can tilt. There is a hitch for towing a trailer. If you would like a picture of the hitch pieces, let me know. It is detached, but there is a lock with key that secures it. There are also three keys for the Jeep. The check engine light seems finicky. Sometimes it will come on. One person wrote in troubleshooting a 1995 Jeep Cherokee: “Any moisture at all underneath your gas cap will trigger a sensor and cause your check engine light to come on, even though this ultimately has nothing to do with your engine.” He added, “Take a rag and wipe all the moisture out from underneath your gas cap and reattach it firmly into place. Twist until it clicks to secure it as much as possible.” Another person wrote, “I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee and yesterday the check engine light came on. I didn't notice any change in how the vehicle was running (the temperature and oil gauges were fine). I stopped at a shop to get it checked out, but wasn't able to get in. When I got back in my car, it didn't come on the rest of the way home. I wasn't sure if I should take it in, or if this was possibly a fluke.” I’m willing to sell the vehicle for as low as $1200 – the first bid price, but would like to get at least $1575. The FM radio works – as well as the CD player, but the AM radio is not working. Maybe there is a fuse that needs replacement. Someone previously asked about taking picture of the underside. I don’t have any, but there was rusting under the passenger’s seat, and the inspectors would not pass the car unless it was repaired. It got it repaired, and the Jeep passed inspection, as noted above.
