Vehicle Detail
Its time to sell my baby. First car I ever bought .... 1978 Plymouth Fury Salon Since I have owned this car it has been taken care of, worked on, driven and loved; but now it is time for her departure as i have bought a 1978 Dodge Monaco as a my new project. MECHANICAL: 63,500 original miles on her original 318 V8 platform, accompanied by a 904 Torqueflite automatic transmission. I have completely removed the electronic Lean-Burn system that Chrysler put on all their cars in the late 70s and into the early 80s. It was a terrible system Chrysler invented to help make their engines run cleaner and more efficiently. Mostly every Lean-Burn system went bad in the early years, yet some lasted. When I purchased this car about 3 years ago, the Lean-Burn was on and it made the car run like crap. Upon removal, I installed a completely new distributor and electronic ignition system to replace the Lean-Burn. Also upon purchase, i had the front portion of the unibody repaired, as it was cracked and slightly bent. The front brakes were gone, had the rotors turned and put new pads on. Rear brakes were adjusted also. Brakes are in excellent working order. I had the front raised a little bit with the torsion bars to give it a level appearance. The engine was mechanically sound after the Lean-Burn was removed except for a few tweaks. The carburetor was adjusted and timed correctly, plugs and wires replaced, oil changed and fluids topped off. The transmission is working perfectly, smooth shifting, no clanks, rattles, etc. The exhaust is recently new, no cats and purrrrs down the road like new... BODY: The body on this old B-body Sedan, like most, is rusted from the rear wheels back with the exception of the trunk which remains solid. The driver quarter is salvageable, but the passenger side is not. The rear door jambs also need some attention. The fenders, and all doors are rust free. The front is excellent, nice grill and header panel. the header panel does have a small crack in it. The glass is all good, i think the windshield was replaced at one time prior to my ownership. The driver side rocker panel is a little rusty, not bad, can be fixed. All the moldings on the doors were painted by me, but are now fading a little bit. Some of them are a little bent up and dinged. If i were to re-do the car, i would take them off anyways. There was a vinyl roof on the car at one time, removed before i got it. I painted the roof with truck bed liner and it looks really nice. Also to mention the weather stripping is good and not cracked or dry rotted. The tires are new, Goodyear Tracker 2 on the back and excentias on the front. All the hubcaps are in excellent condition. INTERIOR: The interior is EXCELLENT on this fury. The dash and dash pad are perfect, no cracks, fading, warping, etc. All the gauges are clear and accurate, and work as they should. The 3 spoke steering wheel is flawless, no cracks, fading. The horn button springs are old and worn and do not work. All door panels are excellent to say the least... No peeling, fading, or warping. The plush velour seats are beautiful, not worn at all... very comfortable car. The plush velour interior only came on the Fury Salon. The headliner and all the roof and window trim is excellent. The carpet could be replaced, some tears in the back. It is the original shag carpet and should be upgraded to a more modern loop carpet appropriate for this car. The dash surrounds are not included with the car, the original Salon dash pieces will be installed. Brand new Sony deck installed, with 1 pioneer in the front and 2 Rockford fosgates in the rear. Has a new antenna also. Awesome sound. PARTS CAR: a 1977 Plymouth Fury comes with the auction as well. it has a title, runs/drives/steers/stops. The interior is completely shot, but the body is not. I bought it to fix the body on the 78 as the passenger side rear quarter is almost 100% solid. It can easily be cut off and re-installed. It comes with the cop car dog-dish hubcaps. Overall, a very good parts car. OVERALL: Whoever buys this car is buying my baby. Since i owned it, it has always been garaged and driven regularly. It is an excellent running car, everything is perfect working order. The body is a little rusted in the rear and needs paint, but that is why I am including the parts car. This 78 Fury can be your daily driver, or restore and drive it. Clear title in hand, ready to transfer to you.... DO NOT bid/buy if you do not intend to take financial responsibility for this car. Thank you!
