Vehicle Detail
1999 Jeep Wrangler Sahara edition 4X4 Black with 2 tops, fiberglass and soft, both tan. 1J4FY49S8XP424519 I purchased this Jeep, used, from a dealership in Dallas in June of 2002 with only 57,000 miles on the odometer. It has been an extremely useful, handy, fun and reliable vehicle. It was the perfect vehicle for towing behind our motorhome. Unfortunately, we no longer have the motorhome and we also have a four-wheel-drive pickup truck; so the Jeep sees very little use. There is nothing wrong with it and it needs no work. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. Jeeps of this vintage, with this engine, 4.0L 6-cylinder, did have a problem with the exhaust manifold cracking. Fortunately, I had purchased the extended warranty, and both the exhaust and intake manifold were replaced, with upgraded units, by dealer. The driver's-side tie rod end was replaced because the grease zerk was broken off. In 12/04 I replaced the large sub-woofer, after the original cracked. At around 78k one of the idler pulleys was squeaking, so it was replaced. We replaced the TPS in order to shut off the check-engine light, near 100k. That is the extent of any "problems" that I had with this Jeep. As can be expected, with a Sahara edition, this vehicle has power steering, power brakes, automatic transmission, air conditioning, cruise control, AM/FM CD player (with large woofer in back), aluminum wheels, rear window wiper/washer and leather seats. Unfortunately, despite my treating them with leather conditioner on a regular basis, the driver’s seat could use recovering. For those not familiar with Jeeps, this model has a padded, factory, roll cage. It is also important to note, that this is a two top Jeep. The soft top was still in the original plastic wrapper when I bought the Jeep in 2002. I removed the hard top, and put up the soft top, just one time, and for only one day. The side windows were missing. I purchased the Besttop, (OEM) side windows and they are still in the box. I think I may have taken them out of the box and installed them during that one day. It also comes with the two parts that go over the doors when you have a soft top up. In other words, both tops are complete and fully functional. This Jeep did not see a lot of harsh use. Although it did go up a number of dirt roads, the majority of its off-roading was at the beach, with surfboards tied on the top. After such excursions, I would immediately wash it when we got home. I made it a point to keep it clean, waxed and have protectant on the fiberglass roof. On the back bumper there are four additional lights (taillight, stoplight, left-turn, right-turn), that are wired to the 6-prong tow-wire receptacle at the front bumper. There are also relays so that the factory lights also work with input from the tow vehicle and the additional lights work with the factory units. Plus, there are charge and ground wires to keep the battery up while the vehicle is being towed. There is also a hook for towing the portable wastewater tank, RVers know what that is. Provided that the reserve of the auction is reached, the winner has the option, for an additional $200, to purchase a Roadmaster, removable towbar for the Jeep, along with which I will include a self centering towbar, safety cables, vehicle to vehicle wire harness and the portion of the air powered tow brake that goes into the Jeep, plus the airline that runs between the towed vehicle and the motorhome. The airline between the front bumper and the interior is there and fully functional. 74,000- 4 new Monroe gas shocks and complete brake job. 81,548- 4 new tires & wheel alignment. 99,541- Cap, rotor, plugs, serpentine belt, air filter, fuel injector flush, oil & filter 99,946- Throttle position sensor replaced to shut off “check engine” light. Flush and fill cooling system. Battery is only a few months old. [Forgot to write it in maintenance log.] Normal maintenances such as oil, filters, ATF and gear oil changes where performed at various intervals. Plates and inspection good through 3/12. Pre-purchase inspections are welcome and encouraged. The vehicle is currently stored indoors and we will store indoors, for the buyer, for up to two weeks, at no charge. We will also gladly work with any transport company that you wish. Although it seems needless to say it, the Jeep does not leave here until it is paid for, in full. Thank you for your interest and good luck with your bidding! On Jul-26-11 at 15:01:09 PDT, seller added the following information: Owned and driven only by adult non-smokers.
