Vehicle Detail

RESTORED CHRYSLER 300 CONVERTIBLE! FULLY LOADED WITH POWER WINDOWS, POWER BRAKES, POWER STEERING, POWER TRUNK, POWER TOP, CD PLAYER, EVERYTHING! REBUILT STRONG 440. WITH THIS LOW OF A RESERVE ON SUCH A RARE CAR, THIS 300 IS DESTINED TO MOVE QUICKLY… BE SURE TO CALL! What we have here is a very clean and collectible 1968 Chrysler 300 Convertible. Due to a sudden, unforeseen circumstance, I am being forced to sell this car. This is one very rare and much pampered Chrysler. The car was originally a specially ordered car and has a “Special Handling” tag on the inner fender. The car is kept in a heated garage and is stored during the winter months. Car has a clear Minnesota title. BODY: The car was fully restored nearly 6 years ago. At that time, the body was taken down to bare sheet metal and fully gone through. For the most part, it is an all-original sheet metal car and is extremely straight. While being stripped, the only sheet metal work the car needed was with the lower sections of the quarter panels. Done professionally, the bad areas were cut away and replaced with partial quarters. There is absolutely no rust anywhere throughout the car. The car was repainted in its original Chrysler W-6 White in a base coat, clear coat setup. There is no bubbling or major blemishes in the paint. It shines up and looks great in the sun. The unique grille on this 300 was totally disassembled, cleaned and rebuilt. The chrome trim throughout the car is in good shape with no major pitting or scratches. The bumpers are still the original chrome, but are still in good condition overall. All the glass has either been replaced or is in good condition. The top, back glass and boot are all new and perfectly flawless. The car sits on a set of Mopar Police wheels, with full center caps and trim rings. The fronts are 15X7 and the rears are extra-deep 15X8. The wide-profile tires are 255-60-R15’s with RWL, and still in like-new condition with only about 6000 miles on them. The spare is also a matching Mopar Police wheel with matching tire. The original jack comes with the car. All weather stripping has been replaced. ENGINE & MECHANICAL: The original 1968 440 motor and transmission have been rebuilt and reworked and are in perfect working order. There is absolutely no smoke, leaks or odd noises. Does not burn any oil and is completely sound and reliable. The sound this 440 puts off through the new dual Flowmasters exhaust is tremendous. One has to experience it in person to truly appreciate it. The transmission was gone through and is also totally reliable. Like the engine, it does not burn or leak any fluid. Less than 7000 miles on the entire powertrain. The car has an original 3-core radiator will full shroud, which was totally cleaned and is excellent at keeping the big motor cool. The car has been converted to a Mopar electronic ignition setup. The carburetor is a new Edelbrock Performer series 750 cfm carb with electric choke. The carb has also been correctly calibrated and jetted for the engine. All electrical components throughout the car have been gone through or rebuilt and are in working order. The front hidden-headlight assemblies work just like they did when the car rolled off the line some 43 years ago. The motor and lines for the convertible top have been completely rebuilt and work perfectly. All power windows raise and retract, although a couple are getting a little sluggish. The car has a new set of drum brakes in the rear. The front brakes are new and the power brake setup and steering components have been updated with those from a 1970 Chrysler. This makes them more reliable and easier to gets parts for, compared to the original power Budd Disc brakes the car had. The original 8 ¾ rear end has been gone though and is in perfect working order. It is an open rear end, not a Sure-Grip. Geared at 323, it is very easy to burn rubber with such a powerful engine! The car originally came with factory air. The system was removed to clean up the engine compartment, and also since I found it silly to have air conditioning on a convertible! However, I have all the parts and hoses necessary to put the system back on if you choose. The car has a new rebuilt power steering pump, new rebuilt brake booster and master cylinder, new battery, new plugs/wires/coil/voltage regulator. The alternator is a new high-output Powermaster unit, but it’s made to look like the original. The original vacuum trunk release was disconnected and upgraded to an electric trunk release. INTERIOR: The interior has been completely gone though from top to bottom. The bucket seats are new, the rear seat is new. The door panels have been refurbished. The dash has the optional wood-grain appliqués, including the optional RARE 3-spoke sport steering wheel. The speedometer has been professionally recalibrated and is within +/- 1-2 mph of actual speed, verified by radar and GPS. All other gauges work, except for the fuel gauge. I recently acquired an NOS fuel gauge, but have yet to install it. However, I do have an aftermarket fuel gauge installed below the dash for the time being. In addition, there is also an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge mounted below the dash. The dash pad itself has been replaced and is in mint condition without any cracks or fading. The original AM radio has been replaced with a new JVC CD player. New speakers were also installed in the original spaces, and no modifications to the interior were made to accommodate them. It’s not often these 300’s pop up for sale, so do not let this one pass you by, especially with cruising season in full force! I can definitely say this with absolute certainty: you could not come close to having this car built for what I am asking. It would easily cost 3 times what I am asking to get a car of this caliber into this condition. Once you see it in person, you are guaranteed to fall in love with it. Every car show I ever brought it to, it has won a trophy. The car also comes with a truckload of extra spare parts for the car, many of which are rare and one-year-only like a full extra grille and taillights. I will gladly listen to all reasonable offers and should the right one come along, then I will in fact, sell the car early as it is officially for sale “locally”. Anyone who is interested is encouraged to call… e-mail if necessary, and schedule a time to come and check it out. Thanks, Gregg: 314-809-8390 Email: steffanf@hotmail.com Please bid only if you plan to purchase this car. If you would like to purchase this car prior to the auction ending, then feel free to contact me to discuss terms. As soon as a price is agreed upon, I can always add a “Buy It Now” option later on. So, if you are serious about owning this car, please call to set up a time to see it in person. A non-refundable $500 deposit is due within 48 hours after the auction ends. Full payment is due within 7 days in cash upon pick up or CERTIFIED bank check which must be verified before car & title are released. If deposit is not received within 48 hours I will consider the winning bid void and offer the car to the next highest bidder. The car is certainly very driveable, even for going long distances. If shipping is preferred, buyer is responsible to secure their own shipping. I will assist in this any way I can. Make note that all the extra parts may not all simply fit in the trunk (there is ALOT)! Car can be stored for a short time as long as it is paid in full first and a time frame is agreed upon. If you have ZERO FEEDBACK, do not bid. Zero feedback bids will be cancelled! If you have less than 10 feedbacks you must contact me before bidding! Previous dealings on Ebay have forced me to impose this bidding policy. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Sold as is, where is.
